The thing about The Pink Sig form is... I got a package the other day with it on there, the mail person DIDN"T bring it to my house and DIDN"T get a signature !!!

Also, I used it once, then requested a copy, Nope, Not available, no sig. They didn't get a signature, even though I had the Pink Sig. form.

Now, if I want a sig. I use the green card that they have to mail back to me.

I always insure, it's already priced into the flat rate shipping.

For bubble envelops, I tape the WHOLE THING, sides, front, back, everything.

For boxes, every corner is taped.

I keep my Paypal account and the checking account it is linked to, empty.

Thank you for all of the replies.

    > Anything over $250.00 Paypal required Signature Confirmation at the cost of $2.20. Otherwise, They will sided with the buyer for the reason of seller didn't follow Paypal's guideline. <

Isn't delivery confirmation by the post office a signature? I paid extra for that and bought the postage on the PayPal site.

This is calling the seller a liar or thief to always side for the buyer.

PayPal said they requested the buyer to file a police report and notify the post office, but I don't know if that was done. If it was I think I would have been contacted.

    > Pay Pal and eBay exist for the buyer , not the seller. Their consideration is that we are peddling junk ! <

Without sellers buyers don't exist and their business goes down the chute. I agree that the buyer should be protected but when you cite a disclaimer advising insurance claiming not responsible otherwise, how can you side with a buyer who claims ignorance?

I have sold ounces of gold delivered without insurance and there was never a problem. I will make insurance mandatory from now on or as suggested, add it into the P&H fee.

    > For a $550 item, Insurance is a requirement and a siggy confirmation is required. If you have paid for both (if it were stated in the auction) you would be covered. <

I thought there was sort of insurance implied because of using Priority Mail. I also thought the delivery confirmation was additional insurance to cover me in case of a problem.

    > There is no signature with delivery confirmation. Did you mean signature confirmation? <

    Label/Receipt Number: 9121 7850 9140 1180 8644 45
    Status: Delivered

Your item was delivered at 10:39 AM on June 16, 2007 in DEATSVILLE, AL 36022. The item was signed for by P BRODERICK.

The set was sent in a USPS Priority Mail cardboard box.

    > You all are living in LA LA Land. Insurance does not protect you from buyers fraud claims. Lets say you were selling coin A for $1000 and you ship the item with signature confirmation and insurance. Mr Buyer gets the coin, signs for it and than claims it is not coin A. You are now screwed! You can't claim insurance because the package was delivered and your money will be reversed to the buyer via "Item not as described". You also can't prove that the coin you put in the package was coin A. I will never sell a coin on eBay again. If I need to move any coins I will use the Boards here to gage interest. <

Excellent point. I once sold a roll of 1976 proof silver quarters. The buyer claimed none of them were silver and only the first several were 1976 proofs and the rest were common circulated. I had him return it and refunded his money. I try to post large photos with the auction so there is no question about a coin being the same one and won't sell rolls again. You try to be honest and there are so many shisters out there scheming away.

    > I think Russ is correct if it was sent to confirmed address within 7 days with signature confirmation you would be covered. <

    Evidently not.

    > Even though you didn't insure the package, if at the very least you had saved the U.S.P.S. tape receipt from the transaction, you would notice that it specifies the weight of the package. Since the buyer has already claimed(and I hope that you properly documented)that the package was empty, then that would be sufficient grounds for filing a complaint with the Postal Security division. Simply reconstructing the package with like contents would be very strong corroboration to the Postal authorities based on the weight shown on your receipt that you shipped what you claimed to have shipped. And if you have a receipt for the merchandise from when you aquired it, that would be additional corroboration for your complaint. Remember, mail fraud is a FEDERAL OFFENSE, regardless of wether the item was insured or not. Don't give up. Just go in the right direction.
The logical argument you should have provided when the buyer claimed "empty package" was that the contents had to have been stolen, therefore the buyer should be willing to file a police report, claiming a larceny ocurred. Isn't that quite obvious???? <

I bought the postage on PayPal and dropped the package off at the post office. There was no receipt as to the weight. It was a 3-coin set as issued by the mint. Weight would not be hard to determine.

I just got the results of the supposed inquiry by PayPal yesterday. I plan on using whatever possible to get this resolved so I don't take a loss. PayPal is of no help, not giving me anything or telling me what course they took in making their decision.

    > The USPS DOES have ways to reimburse you if you can prove the item was lost/stolen while it was in the possession of the USPS. <

I won't even attempt to prove the post office is at fault. The buyer behaved like a slick redneck and I believe it's a scam by him. I didn't know of any way to get out of honoring the auction.

    > Every package I ship out is taped, even the bubble mailers I put a tape strip over the flap. Prioirty boxes always get tape all round. <

I always put tape across or over the post office sticky flap as I don't trust it remaining sealed under all conditions. The thing is I doubt the package arrived opened or that the coins were missing. The tape seems meaningless in this case.

    > I keep my Paypal account and the checking account it is linked to, empty. <

That is the best protection. I imagine they can still go after you if they wanted to. I never thought I would lose this.

I will not be accepting PayPal in the future.

If the item is "not as described" doesn't the recipient have to return the item before he can get any kind of reimbursement from PP or a CC company? Further can the recipient return any ol crappy POS coin knowing that you probably can't prove that you sent what you said you sent? Then its his word against yours.

I once worked with a female who had a checking account at Chase. It went to -$2600 after she was a fraud victim.

Are you *sure* Paypal can't overdraw your checking account?

    Short answer- no, it's not.

Delivery Confirmation and Signature Confirmation are two different things.

I shipped priority mail and thought I bought delivery confirmation with signature, I'm confused now what it was but I wanted a sig when it was delivered... PayPal doesn't show the postage transaction. I paid a total of $6.35 and got:

On my case they buyer didn't even have to return the coins to me. I was out the cash and the coins and I didn't even get B.S. coins as a consolation prize.
