How do you feel when a seller accepts your best offer on a card?

Just wondering...

Is it... YAAAAAY I got the card for the price that I wanted..

OR

Hmmmm... Maybe I could have gotten it cheaper...

    sometimes sort of mixed.

I just bought a vintage rare back for approximately 58% of the BIN price, which seems great...but the other part of me always wonders if there could have been a better deal to be had!
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

    Funny you ask Roger.

Last night I put 2 offers in on 2 separate cards. Here's the funny part, the seller had them listed in his ebay store at $1.99 or best offer.

I thought whats the point of using a best offer on a $1.99 card?

So for fun I submitted my offers $1.25 on each card. He came back with a counter offer of $1.75 on one card and declined the other image

I ended up buying both, one for $1.75 and the other for $1.99 image

Now that is a pretty tight seller if he needs every penny he can get.
I usually offer the seller low beckett book not counting the shipping. I think it's usually a fair offer as that's the norm I pay on regular auctions. The item isn't hot either (would never buy hot). I'm thrilled if they accept. It's around 50% of the time that they accept. You never know though....people's conception of value a lot of times are strange. I don't try and lo-ball them. It may tick them off and they won't even bother submitting a counteroffer. Switch the tables around and play his part. How would you react? These are the things I try to consider.

Depends. Sometimes I wonder if they would have accepted a lower price, but I don't stress over it.

  • If I put it in my store, I put a best offer on it. I put alot of 2.00 to 5.00 cards there with Best offer. If I have a card there for 3.00 and a buyer offers me 1.00 most of the time I accept it. I use Ebay to sell things the cards do me no good just sitting there.
  • Just this weekend a seller put a 2001 Topps Heritage set up with a BIN of $399, or best offer. I knew the $399 wasn't a bad price, since you couldn't put one together for that, but ever the cheapskate I submitted a best offer of $285. I thought that was fair, as it was above 50% of the BIN, but still low enough to save me some money.

He turned down two offers before mine, and must have thought about mine over night, because when I cam in from work Monday, he accepted my offer. I felt like I did pretty well on that deal, I'm just waiting for the cards to arrive. image

I will start out low, but depending on the card and how long it has been listing will effect my final bid. I feel you need a bit of negotiation, if he accepted my first offer I would get a steal

I have a nice card listed that BV is $250. There have been 4 listed and 3 ended early (likely sold via email offer) and one sold BO $250. There is one in a Store for $350. I list mine at $325 and get a BO of $275. I would take $275 but wonder if I could get more. Should I wait and see if any other offers come or send a counteroffer? I don't want to loose the $275, but would take $300 if I can get it ya know.

i am perfectly fine if i get a specific card at my offer.

on a side note, some momo offered me $3500 CASH on a psa 4 1952 topps mantle psa 4 today. pretty nice of him. i guess he would have been thrilled if i accepted that. i was just as likely to accept $1 for it.

    I love it.

As a seller, whether or not I accept it all depends on the buyer's offer, past feedback history, and their general overall attitude.
