I remember being told when you submit a card into an auction house you the consinor can bid on your card, but if you win it you have to pay the fees and everything else. Shill bidding is wrong when the auction house does it. But is it wrong for the consinor if he can win the card and pay for it?

Umm, yes. Shilling is shilling, no matter how you look at it. And I don't know of any auction houses that let consignors bid on their own items.

  • So, what do you guys think the card will "top off" at? Any guesses?

I say $45,000 with the juice is the ceiling. With something like this though, it's anyone's guess. Could be $18,000, could be $70,000. We'll just have to wait and see.

45 to 50K is absolutely insane for a card like that.
  • Davemri, I wish the card was mine, maybe in a few weeks though. lol. Thanks for the link! I knew this was a great forum.

I agree with mojorob, it will hit an insane price. Then within 6 months another 10 will get graded by a well known dealer. Or a 9 will get bumped into a 10 holder. Happens all the time on big $$ cards.

Think of how many PSA 9 Maravich rookies one could own for the price that 10 will receive. Insanity rules the PSA 10 market!!

will the recent article on Mastro and alleged shill bidding hurt their prices??

Certainyl will give me pause when I bid

Why have they not come out and addressed it?

I have a feeling, don't know why, that it will just make it over $35,000 for that card.
