6 vending boxes from 80-85. I don't own a scanner but if there is anything outstanding, I'll take pics.
This is order #2 for me. Order #1 was equally satisfying. Not a lot of luck on pulls, but I was as sure as I've ever been that the product was untouched.
The 1984 box had no Mattingly, and only one star card in good condition. Not one sharp corner in the entire box.
The 1985 box had no Clemens, no Mattingly, no McGwire. It had a Puckett, but it was the worst Puckett ever, with colors bleeding all over the card. There was an Eric Davis (something I value) and a Gooden but they were both very badly centered. The whole box was ridiculously badly centered, in fact.
Still have four left: 1980 (1), 1981 (2), 1983 (1). I hope it gets better.
I was excited about the prospect of truly unopened vending boxes before today. But unless this gets better in a hurry, I might just have to go back to wax. ugh.
I placed my first order with Steve last week. It was a small low $$$$ one just to test the waters so to speak and if all goes well there will be more. The prices Steve has are awesome and I would way rather open old wax and racks.. May be a new addiction!!!!
I look forward to it and it should arrive tomorrow.
I only ordered a 1991 UD Football box, a 1991 Pacific Football box, a 94/95 SP Basketball box, 2 1986 Donruss racks, and 2 1984 Topps racks.
Ok...I have to post. The 1980 box sucked very badly. One Ozzie Smith that was in decent shape, one so-so Henderson that looks like it will be a PSA 7 at best....but that's it.
Saved the 1983 box for last. I'm like 30 cards in and I already have an AWESOME Boggs, a very strong Gwynn, and a razor sharp Dawson with like 60/40 centering. All will get graded once I figure out how to submit. This is insane. No one on earth would have left this Boggs or this Gwynn in the box if they intended to tamper.
Nice to hear that you pulled a mint Boggs. Hope you can score a 10 on that one. Vending is always brutal. One ding corner on the brick and you're toast. Tough gamble to go for gradeable cards.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

I have gotten some very nice cards from vending, but they are few and far between.
I busted a 1986 bb vending case and I saw that even untouched boxes had some issues. Rack and wax is certainly the way to go but if you can pick up vending for the appropriate price, it may be worth it.

BBCE and tamper are NOT used in the same sentence.
Right...and that was the point. I am more skeptical than the average bear, but I have come to trust BBCE implicitly. There actually ended up being two Gwynns in that box, and both were gorgeous.
There was also a problem with the order that they took care of as fast as humanly possible.
I really do hope they get all the business they could ever wish for. Best customer service ever.

I'm going to stop reporting, though...because without a scanner this isn't nearly as much fun for outsiders. :-/
