Bought a box of 1991 Wild Card Collegiate Football

Trying to get a stripe of Favre. Paid $41 from Capecoralcards on Ebay. The shipping was fast, packaging was perfect. The guy even throug in 5 free packs of some early 90's football for free. Great dealer and I will buy from him again.

Now for the rant on the box. Holy crap did the collation suck. Not only did I not get a Favre card at all I got the same player 17 times. Yes 17 of the same guy in the same box. That is an average of every other pack has the same guy. I will fininsh sorting through tonight for spite but the collation was terrible. I got duplicates in the same pack at least a dozen times. I did get four 5 stripe cards. One being a Barry Sanders. Why could I not get 17 of Barry Sanders? I got four though. Overall I bet I have only 80-100 cards for the set of 160. There were 36 packs and 15 or more cards per pack. One pack I got 21 cards. Yeah, 21.

The set has no big names excpet for Favre and Ricky Watters.

Enough of my complaining. Anyone have a 5-10-50-100 stripe Favre they want to sell?

It's also tough to pull gradeable cards. A thread was started about a week ago about the terrible collation of Wild Card. You're not the only one Troy.

My feeling is that the only way you're going to get what you need out of Wild Card boxes is to buy a whole case, which almost never come up on ebay.

I think Steve Hart had some of those a month or so ago at $10 a box.

Those are the NFL versions, not the collegiate

    He did have both.

edited to add: I was going to get 2 boxes of them at some point to get University of Alabama players who never had an NFL card produced but didn't get around to it by the time they were sold.
  • I had the same experience, no Farve but if you need Mark McGwires little brother Dan , I'm your man. Also looked for Alabama players and none were listed on the checklists 1-120. I don't know how many cards are in the set though.

I will also look for some AL players. Maybe I have 46 of each of them

By chance, were any of the few stripe cards you pulled happen to be of Kevin Donnally?
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

If you have any Georgia Buldogs (only in UGA uniforms), I'd be happy to buy them from you. Especially interested in any autos that came from that box that are UGA guys.
    Enjoy your collection!

I bought 3 cases of them from Steve Hart last September, looking for Favre stripes. I agree that the collation sucks. Cases are the way to go, if you can find them. Out of the 3 cases (30 boxes), I got about 100 Favres plus 4 Favre stripes: 2 5's, a 10 and a 50. There were of course MANY boxes that had no Favres in them at all.

Well, just went through the entire box. 36 packs, 72 different players. 11 players with only one card. 22 players have 10 or more of each.

I have ONE Georgia player. John Kasay the kicker. No Alabama or Donelly.
