Do you find it ironic that Albert Pujols.......................

Do you find it ironic that Albert Pujols has gone deep in every game since the All Star break? After being snubbed (which I think too much of a big deal was made about) he homered in every game in the series with the Phillies and twice on Sunday. I think it was about 3 weeks since his previous home run. Maybe he will tear it up in the 2nd half and wind up with his usual 40-45 HR's and 130 RBI.

He is obviously a great baseball player, but come on, what a great example to set by whining in front of the media about not playing in a game that fans decided he should be allowed to play in. He plays a game for $12.9 million a year not including endorsements and benefits of being a MLB player, it must be rough to act with any humility in front of the media or in public. Of course these types of attitude are par for the course for many pro athletes in every major sport, but that shouldn't be an excuse.

Actually, it was his own manager who selected him. He did so, probably because he was going to be there anyway for the HR Derby.

I was flipping through the channels on the car radio this afternoon, and caught only a bit of another part to this Pujols story. Apparently, LaRussa couldn't have used him to pinch-hit in that situation anyway, because Pujols had already changed out of his uniform and left the bench by that point. Again, I didn't see the game - and I don't know if this is true, but it sure wouldn't surprise me to find out that this is true. Anyone hear about this?

That second bomb won the week for me!!!! GO PUJOLS!!!! image
  • Just coincidence...and if not, do you really want a guy who's been sub-par all year to need an exhibition game to get him fired up?

I highly doubt that he is on fire because of this, the guy is just too good to not put up big #'s eventually.

    its not ironic at all......

I watch ever game so i see Pujols often...before the break, Pujols had been in a line-drive hitting rut...he wa snot getting any loft and he was not using his legs....

the Derby helped him get his legs and hips back in the swing, and he also started uppercutting his swing more....

watching him at the derby, i knew it would snap him out of his funk....even great hitters get stuck in a rut sometimes...
