Transformers the Movie...

I know this is off topic, but I saw this movie the other day, and I am a fan.

The movie was very good. I cannot believe how well it was made and how realistic they made the transformers look. Some movies can't even make driving a car realistic(obvious green screen background), yet this movie is absolutely fabulous in this regard.

I don't know what Oscar category that would go under, but if this doesn't win it, then the Oscars are a waste of time(they may be anyway).

There was a couple of plausibility scenes/issues on a few items( I won't explain as I don't want to ruin anything), but they are minor. Though they have nothing to do with the sci fi aspect of the movie, but on an action scene or two involving humans. It is very easy to ignore though.

I recommend this movie...great action, a surprisingly interesting plot....

and a super hot chick!!!! Yummy!

  • Agreed, Megan Fox is beyond hot in this film.

I am sure the film will do quite well in the technical awards at the Oscars, even though it seems everyone at the academy despises Michael Bay. There were countless times where I was in awe how amazingly realistic the robots interacted with the environment. The non-stop action erased the fact its a 2.5 hour movie.

I'm wanting to see it again, and looking forward to the 2009 sequel.

The category is Special Teams, er I mean Special Effects.
  • it was OK for a michael bay film. I wish a better director had his hand in it.

Saw Harry Potter last night, it was very well done.
  • I thought Transformers was awesome! I really enjoyed the scene where Chevrolet converts the `76 Camaro into their new `08 model! Very cool idea!!

Did Chevrolet have to pay for that promo? It's a pretty sweet looking car.

my son saw the movie and thought it was great....he's 13 so obviously he's on the fringe of the transformer age group but he is pretty good when it comes to determining movies.....one thing to mention that someone else alluded to about plausibility factors in movies.......did anyone see the movie Shooter??? this took the plausibility factors to another level....the part where Marky Mark is running out of the house to escape late in the movie with hundreds of what are supposed to be elite force type folks converging on him went beyond my imagination...he didn't even get a nick.....let alone the fact that bullets are flying all over the place and nothing even comes close...either he is awful fast and shifty or the folks shooting at him were dag gone awful shots!!!

  • If it was only a million bucks, it was worth every penny. Hell Bay could have asked $10 million and it still would have been a bargain.

As far as mediocre, this isn't a film that's going to change your life, its meant to be pure eye candy, pure entertainment - on that delivers. It's the prototypical summer blockbuster in every regard.

I saw the film down in Port Saint Lucie last week while on vacation. I enjoyed it alot more then I thought going in. It was your typical action/adventure flic in alot of ways BUT it was very cool to see Transformers transform on the big screen. I recommend it especially if you have kids image

I have to say that I as well liked it more than I anticipated. Special effects were fabulous and the storyline was believable enough (remember, you are attending a movie where cars turn into robots).

I just watched it a couple of hours and thought that it was rather entertaining.

Sorry, I haven't seen the movie, but I thought this thread was worthless without a pic of Megan Fox

My 13 year old son and I saw the movie. It was much better than I had expected. The robots were great and the special effects showing their transformation was excellent. The dialogue in the movie was pretty good too (I liked the dad taking the 16 year old son to buy his first care and driving him first past the porsche dealership).

Megan Fox was a knockout in the movie, playing the female lead (an apparently troubled "bad girl" who turns out to be not a "bad girl" at all and who decides to hang out with a guy other than the football jerk/stud). She looked very good in the movie and looks just as good, if not better in the picture of her in this thread. Makes me wish I was 16 and in high school again (especially if I had a transformer Camero to drive around inimage).
