Wonder if this'll work...

Check out this feeble attempt at a 1934 Goudey Lynn Nelson flip:

Auction #1 - Where he bought the card (notice the back of the Lynn Nelson card)

Auction #2 - Where he's selling it

Gotta love the "VG+/EX" description of this heavily creased card...and no mention of his crappy touch up job on the back, either.

He also throws in this line for good measure: "THIS IS A GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL AND UNALTERED 1934 GOUDEY."

He may have done some erasing on the front 4 coners at the tips too.
  • I just ASQ'ed him about it. See what he says.
  • I asked too and will notify the winner. What a jerk.

    Thanks for posting this !!!!!!!!!!!!

eBay needs to start blocked seller lists (so I don't accidently bid on one of his items someday)

Just another mutt imo. The hobby is filled with them. Nothing new, been going on since the 80's and prolly before.

    Just asked,

"If this card is "guaranteed unaltered", how do you explain eBay item 140133627500? You have clearly altered the card by removing the writing on it. Shame on you for trying to take advantage of someone who doesn't know any better! You are a disgrace to the hobby."

I will probably get the same lack of response as I usually do from these crooked sellers.

Maybe we should spoof bid with a new ebay name (not to hurt our precious 100% positive feedback) and bid it up to a few hundred dollars then make all kind of excuses why we don’t want to pay.
  • Maybe not.. We have seen how that idea can actually help the scammer and burn an underbidder on the SCO

    certainly is altered. nice catch.

The only way I've found to work around this is to put the crappy sellers (like this one) on my blocked bidders list. Then, before I bid on an item (or set a snipe for it), I make sure they're not on my blocked bidder's list. It's helped out a few times.

Plus, I'm sure you don't want them bidding on your stuff to begin with. But I do agree, Ebay needs to set up a Blocked Seller list as well.

  • Seller ended listing and relisted with erasure notation.

  • Well, It looks like he stopped the original auction and started a new, revised one.

He took out "unaltered" but I guess still feels his creased, altered card is still in "VG+/EX condition"

  • Its just a small erasure mark.. LOL.. Stands out like a sore thumb.

LOL I emailed him thru ebay yesterday explaining i was interested in the card but that it looked like it had been erased. Could he let me know if it was. Never got a reply.

I guess a few of us did the same thing so he decided to come clean.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • I did get a reply from him and he said thanks for noticing the error for him and that he has corrected it.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

The seller is about as sharp as a marble
  • If you go over to the ebay msg. board you'll find someone (an old friend from here) who thinks the seller is in the right.
