shipping question - need help!

I'm a newbie seller with a stupid question.

An auction of mine ended tonight. The guy who won the auction is from Canada. In the text of the auction, I said shipping is $3 and in the shipping table, it says that I ship to The US only. The key is....I don't want to lose this sale. But I also don't want too much extra hassle shipping this to America Junior.

1) How much extra is shipping to Calgary going to cost me? (I live in Chicagoland and it's just one card in a bubble mailer.)

2) I haven't invoiced him yet. If it does cost me extra, should I just insert the bigger number into the "shipping" section of the invoice?

What would you do?

shipping from US to Canada is about the same as within the US.
you should be fine with what you are charging to cover your cost.
one thing to consider - if they use paypal - you pay a $1 fee for outside
the US transaction and unless you use a more expensive method of mailing
you will not have delivery confirmation to satisfy a paypal claim. i'd check the
buyer's feeback. if its a good percentage and a good number of transactions
I would not worry about it. if new ebay user or poor feedback then I would
    not complete the deal.

I guess it depends on the value. If it is a low value item I would not worry, if it is a higher valued item it will cost at the least 22.00 to ship it where paypal is a concern. I think it must be shipped express mail or something like that so you get the signature confirmation. Or you can self insure it and charge a nominal fee.

    Where is Storm?

    Good for you.
  • You can also set your listings on Ebay not to allow buyer from countries you do not ship to for future sales. Shipping to Canada is not that much expensive if you are talking a card.

It depends on the value of the card and how much 'protection' you want. Yes it is only 1.50 or so to ship a card, but if that card is 2, 3 4oo.oo then it will cost you 20.00 plus dollars to ship it.
