I heard a quick note on ESPN a little bit ago that Mark Cuban has applied to purchase the Chicago Cubs. Not really sure what all is involved in the application process and where this might lead, but as a Cub fan for 31 years, just the thought of of someone who actually cares about what's on the field instead of who's in the stands, really gets me excited!! He's just nutty enough to fit in with the rest of us! Just as soon as the check clears, he can give A-Rod a call and make sure he is wearing Cubbie blue next season!!

  • As much grief as Cuban gets, I think he's a fantastic owner. He essentially took a castoff franchise and turned it into a perennial powerhouse. Would love to see that kind of passion from more owners, prove that they are as interested in putting a winning team out there as they are in making profits.

Sounds like you are big Steinbrenner fan.

Cuban gets results but his out of control ego antics at basketball games are annoying and tiresome.

Yeah, but it would be fun to see Bud Selig annoyed by those antics.

Maybe Selig would get so annoyed that he'd resign.

Okay, maybe not. But a guy can hope.

The yankees were hardly a castoff franchise...and Cuban pays the same for payroll as everyone else and gets results.

Donald Trump thinks that Mark Cuban is "a loser" and that's why the Mavericks, as good as they are, haven't won a title and never will as long as Cuban is at the helm.

I don't have an opinion on Cuban really, but he does seem a little bit like a Steinbrenner Jr. He's got the money and the ego that will ensure he'll do whatever he can to at least put players on the field that will help them compete.

Can you imagine Cuban without a salary cap?

He will outspend George, no doubt.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I guess you did not know how when CBS owned the Yankees they basically ran them into the ground pre-Boss George. That is why Steinbrenner was able to buy the Yankees for less than $10 million including the incentives in tax reductions George got from NYC.
