X-out box??

What does "non x out" mean referring to a box of cards, whats an X mean?

X out boxes are boxes returned by retailers to Topps that were then repackaged and sold as is with no returns.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

An x out box usually has a big thick x on the top of the box from a permanent marker. The black x makes the box look ugly, but there probably isn't anything wrong with the packs inside.
