Top is dated from 1985, bottom is yours. I'm going to say no, unfortunately, but only one man's opinion.

Ali characteristics are distinctive M and h and last name. Yours fails all three tests. The M on yours has even peaks where most of Ali's I've seen slope progressively downward, very similar to Michael Jordan's first M. Most of his small letters are formed with sharp angles whereas yours contains several rounded points, particularly in the a, h, and d in his first name. Also the letters on yours form varying angles whereas Ali's signature is pretty consistent in that respect. His last name is almost always formed with a simple rounded line, loop, loop pattern - almost never forming a full i at the end. Ali's signature usually stays on a baseline whereas yours loses contact at the "ha".

Lastly, I think the final strike against is the position of "Ali" far off the baseline. Never seen that before.

As his illness has progressed, Ali has continued to sign but his signature has gotten smaller in height and more compressed, but characteristics are still the same. This may also reflect his humility, if you want to believe the graphologists.

Ali is a prolific signer, his signature is not hard to get. However, popular as he is and as simple as his signature is, it has been widely forged and the Liston photo is a common item to find with bad sigs.

I wonder how even the characteristics could still be the same with advanced P.D.

I would think it would throw of the way he signs an autograph completely .

My grandfather had PD and not only was his walking extremely slowed , but his hands used to shake with no control , medication used to slow it down , but never really stop it , as far as talking that was severely effected and facial expressions were very late , like he would smile 3 or 4 minutes after saying something funny and I think a lot of people who didn't understand the disease would think he didn't hear them, so they would speak louder .
    Such a sad sad disease . . .

Just my 2 cents worth .

Whats amazing is that a man with advanced Alzheimer's can still sign his name more legibly than 75% of todays athletes!

    Loves me some shiny!

Could have gotten a PSA/DNA quick opinion for $10. I don't think the sig is legit either, but again, just another man's opinion...which is all PSA/DNA would be too..albeit a more well informed and educated opinion.

Best of luck. It's a really neat piece if it's legit. Still a great photo.

I don't think Ali does any more public or private signings. The latest Ali sign I have seen recently is from around 2005 and looks pretty bad. Very shaky and tracks up and down. If I can find a pic I'll post here.

The mere fact that Ali is still alive is testament to his strength as a fighter .

Yea, I don't think he's done any signings in quite some time .
I wonder if he has signed any autographs at all in the last 8 - 10 years .

Makes me curious to know what one would look like in his own hand these days if anyone does have one .

I would be ashamed to ask that man to perform such a task , because at this stage of the disease, that is exactly what it is for him .

I think Gil might find out this autograph is authentic and that it was signed in maybe the middle stages of P.D. because to me it does not look that far off , Granted it is not the hardest to forge either but as mentioned, I see many of the characteristics of Ali's autograph in it .

Best of luck with that Mr.Gil .
    PSA or JSA .
  • My opinion is its not real . I have an Ali i got in person in 1991. It looks much smaller than that autograph. The 1985 example looks closer to your autograph . With that i have a question with the use of a silver pen . Was the use of those types of pens common in 1985. I know i used them on pucks starting in 1990 so maybe it was common.

I had my Ali authenticated by PSA DNA in May because im going to have it framed and i thought if ever need to sell it better to have it authenticated before framing
