If you won the lottery, what would you buy first?
Ok, I've never played the lottery even once and don't plan on playing. However, I do find this an interesting question. Just for kicks - if you won multiple millions in the lottery, what would you buy first for your collection?
Cards - I would build a high grade 1952 Topps complete set. I think it would be neat to build one over time, rather than buy one all at once. I would want it in an album for viewing purposes. That would be a start to building every Topps set from 1952 to present.
Memorabilia - autographed Babe Ruth baseball.

I would like to complete a Mickey Mantle basic registry set, all in PSA 9s and 10s!
Maybe I would need to win the lotto twice?
rd
P.S. I would like to expand on the Marshall Fogel #1 all-time Mickey Mantle basic set!

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
In the early 1980's, I had the opportunity to buy a raw T3 Cobb in nrmt-mt condition for $1,500.00. It had the slightest touched upper right corner. Really sorry that I did not have the money then.

My freedom...I'd pay off all my debt.
Ditto.
First, I'd clear out all the junk I've been meaning to sell.
Along with a nice high-grade vintage assortment, I'd purchase a 1985 Topps football set PSA 9 and 10.
Probably purchase a bigger home to house a ton of vintage unopened.
Rip it all, of course.
I would have a serious car collection as well with a garage as big as a Costco for them to live in with a greese monkey on staff..
No really,
I am assuming you mean tens of millions of dollars. I would travel a lot, pay off my debt, buyy the typical pre war cards and early leaf, topps, and bowman sets in high grade from PSA and SGC, high profile cards of other later hall of famers, finish off the collection of cards I wanted in my youth.
Really, I would save 95% of it, then buy all this stuff with the dividends
Id love to get a MLB & MLBPA license to issue cards and try to market more to the kids. Also a website called "Where's Mick", similar to "Where's George?" where you could log your PSA or SGC card number and watch it's travels through the years and prices.
All-time favorite athletes:
Steve Sax, Steve Garvey, Larry Bird, Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Andre Agassi, Karch Kiraly, Wayne Gretzky, Ichiro Suzuki, Andres Galarraga, Greg Maddux.
"Make the world a better place... punch both A-Rods in the face (Alex Rodriguez and Andy Roddick)!"
<< <i>Well, I'd head right for BBCE and buy up all the unopened stuff from 1985 back... as much as I could carry out of there. I'd especially really love to tear into those '72 & '75 Topps baseball, some 81 Basketball, 84 football and some 79 hockey! Man, what a thrill that would be... just opening up stacks and stacks of that great older stuff! >>
Could I have your wrappers? I got this bar .....
<< <i>I'd buy PSA >>
What would you do with the other 95% of your winnings?
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.
My Pirates Collection
My older son likes the Dodgers as well but not as much as this guy. I see him in a few years knowing the stats. He watches games in his room while playing and will come tell me "Dad did you know this is Brad Pennys 1st time hitting in a nite game on Wednesday while tired and facing a batter who has the flu"? or whatever.
Then a new bass guitar (like the other ones I have aren't already enough), then it would be on to baseball cards!
1952-1960 Topps sets, some T206s, some Goudys, and just for giggles maybe try to put together some late 1960s-early 1970s baseball sets from unopened boxes. Ya know, just for giggles.
