OT . . . Uninstalling Internet Explorer (Computer Guys)

I have a ton of script errors.

Is it a good idea to remove IE completely and go with Mozilla Firefox.

Is there any risk in doing this??????

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

    To fix the problem

    Go to tools on explorer

    Click on Internet Options

    Click on the advanced tab

uncheck or check the script debugging obtion

I didnt think you could remove Explorer from Windows, I thought it was built in to the operating system.

Or has IDFerg says, upgrade to 7. Might want to eliminate all non-explorer toolbars except explorer before you do so. You might run into some problems if you don't

Why don't you just install Firefox without removing IE?

I have had great success with Firefox for a couple of years.

I would also upgrade the IE but just not use it.

i dont think you can remove explorer from the computer if running XP or other windows operating systems. it is used by windows to nagivate through your computer as well as the web.

    Yeah, what they said.

Either upgrade IE or download firefox.

DO NOT uninstall any microsoft components.

Big Brother doesn't like it when you do and will make your system go boom.

I have IE 7 at work and it works good, much better than the previous one.

At home I have Mozilla, which I installed about two months ago, and I love it. Much better than internet explorer.

As far as removing it, I would not do it. Some websites will only allow you to use IE. Just upgrade it.
  • Update IE, but just never use it. Opera or Firefox are much better, safer, and more efficient browsers.

Excellent point. Some auction checkout procedures such as Auctionhelper do not work in Firefox.
  • In regards to IE 7, do you have any software applications on your PC (i.e. design software, programming software softphones, netphones etc) that you need to use periodically? I'm asking this because several applications out there will still not work with IE 7.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

    I am addicted to Firefox.

I have to use IE on my work computer and I hate it. I keep using the mouse gestures to no avail.

Agreed. We should start a list of the must-have Firefox extensions. I'll start with the first one: forecastfox. I also really like the "openinIE" extension that allows you to easily open a page in MIE if it doesn't work properly in Firefox. (Yeah, it does happen from time to time...)

The Ebay Negs extension is great.

Firefox is the best browser and getting better all the time. Once you get used to tabbed browsing you'll never go back.

IE 7 is a POS. But you will need it for some sites. Treetops suggestion will help eliminate the error messages. You cannot safely remove IE from Windows unless you seriously know what you are doing. It is possible but more trouble than it's worth. Do the updates, then leave it alone unless you have to use it.

For me, it's Mouse Gestures. Being able to right-click and slide the mouse to the left to go "back" is just awesome.

Foxytunes, which puts controls for your mp3 app (iTunes, Winamp, whatever) right on your status bar is another must-have.

And finally, AdBlock Plus for blocking ads and images.
