She's just working her way around the league isn't she?

One more reason to be a professional baseball player?

She has a new line of women's baseball themed apparel called "Touch" available at mlb.com.

I think Dan Haren's comment that he "could hardly keep a meal down today" falls under the category of "TMI" !!!!!!!!!!! image

I hate that Heineken commerical also.

    Nice A-Rod error there.

Edited to say: At least it looked like it should have been an error to me.
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
A-Rod out by a mile at home. Looks like that stolen base wasn't so good for the hammy. Either that or he didn't see the point in going all Pete Rose on Martin.
  • Yeah, no need to go all Pete Rose in the All-Star game...can't have him getting hurt - nice throw by Jr. though.

Anyone catch the Bonds interview where the interviewer asked about his feelings on Bud Slieg & quickly went into a question about A-Rod right away? Did Barry's handler waive off the question or I am crazy?

  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
Barry's had some strange interviews over the past couple days.

I realize steroids are a huge deal in baseball, but wouldn't it be nice if we could watch just one nationally televised game that didn't focus on the issue ad nauseum? The All-Star game is supposed to showcase the best of baseball, so why do we have to dwell on something we hear about every other day of the season? Rant over.

Me thinks Ichiro just won the MVP award with that inside the park homer.
  • WOW! What a nice inside the parker for Ichiro!! His hit ealier ( the loop into left) was a sweet one as well. Will he be MVP of the game??

Regarding Barry - all bad feelings aside - there is no doubt tonight helped his image with the casual fan. Very polite & gracious during his interview, the fans absolutley LOVED him, and the annoucers were alsomost comical in coming up with excuses for him. Did you hear the one guy say,"Well if in 10 years we find out 70% of all pitchers where on steroids, then maybe we'll look at Barry in a different light." WTF was that? Anyway, you can't help but respect his immense talent, tainted record or not.

  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
If the AL wins I would think Ichiro would absolutely have to be MVP. I think he is 3-3 already with both RBI for the AL and the first ever inside the park homer.
  • frankhardyfrankhardy Posts: 8,097 ✭✭✭✭✭
LaRussa said that Pujols may play another infield position besides First Base - even Short or Second! I would love to see that!

    Shane

  • Oh no! Another HR?? Could this be another AL victory??
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
I guess you didn't hear Bonds diss Bud in an interview at the HR contest. I think he said... I don't even know what Bud Selig does and I don't care
if here is there when I break the record"

This is just 3 days where everyone gets to be PC and pretend that baseball is fine and dandy.

Yup, I think Ichiro will be the MVP.

    Steve
  • The NL still sucks.

LaRussa plays his best pitchers one inning, whereas Leyland let them go two innings. Playing everyone and trying to win are becoming mutually exclusive now that this garbage "counts".
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
That was a long awkward silence before Paula Cole started singing. She should have used that time to shave her armpits better.

    Ichiro.
Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.
  • Wagner doing his best to make it 10 in a row.
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
Hoffman looks like he's trying to help Wagner seal the deal too.
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
Roberts should have been charged with an error on that D. Young "hit."
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
Oh my. Nice homer for Soriano.

Bring on Okajima to close it!
  • Exciting 9th inning image
    Krod in for Putz.
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
Alf Soriano does it AGAIN. If it wasn't for Wagner screwing it up, it would of been a walk off HR and ANOTHER All Star MVP for Alf. Still
    clutch. BAM

    Kevin
  • interesting that Pujols isnt hitting in this spot.
  • krod is wild as hell.
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
I agree. Plus, K-Rod doesn't have any control. I reiterate, time to bring in Okajima.
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
You beat me too it. K-Rod shouldn't be allowed to pitch to another batter.
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
Wow, that was the most exciting ending to an All-Star game in quite a while! Good times.
  • frankhardyfrankhardy Posts: 8,097 ✭✭✭✭✭
LaRussa is an idiot - not letting Pujols hit with the bases loaded. That's the most bone headed move I've ever seen a manager make.

    Shane

  • Because Roberts has no range Putz gets frustrated and gives up a homer to Soriano who shouldn't even have been at the plate.
  • KRod had the control of a 90 year old lady.

I'm surprised pooholes didn't bat - I can understand leaving Hardy in there and the left handed Hudson, but Rowand???
  • kuhlmannkuhlmann Posts: 3,326 ✭✭
yeah joestalin blame it on wagner. nice job by rowand both times up??

what the heck is larusa doing? that was the perfect time for pujols to be up. ohh well. mets are better on the road anyway..

cant blame the mets cubs or reds... i blame the SILLIES ROWAND!
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
my wife and I were watching the game and both of us were saying "where's Okajima?"
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
Can't blame the Mets? Wagner let an almost All Star hit the ball 450 feet! What a choke job.

Maybe being in the same dugout with a couple of Phillies led him to believe he was back in Philly, that'd explain the choke job.

Actually if he was reverting back to his Philly days, he would of pulled up gimpy coming out of the dugout!

  • Was it just me or was that woman interviewing Ichiro at the MVP presentation just god awful?

Screwing up questions, completely irrelevant questions, then putting in the 'you'll be a free agent!' when his new deal is imminent. But then again it is fox...we can't have high expectations.

This may be showing my lack of hipness, by what exactly has Paula Cole done in the past decade to warrant her presence at the game? Why can't she just take her Dawson's Creek money and keep her horseface off my TV?
    Travis
  • Fox sure had a curious cast at the game...kevin kennedy and eric karros doing the pregame? And the so-called 'stars' they had on display were really lacking.

Was that the chick who sang "God Bless America"?

    : shudders :

I thought Dawson's Creek was a bunch of good looking chicks.. Perhaps she was only behind the camera?
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
  • Paula Cole is not an actress, and I dont think she was ever on Dawsons Creek, she's a bit old for that show; pushing 40 years old.
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
Paula Cole's song, "I Don't Want To Wait" was the theme song for Dawson's Creek.
  • kcballboykcballboy Posts: 1,405 ✭✭✭
Hearing that song always makes me think about the South Park episode where Cartman goes back into time to the Declaration of Independence, and clubs a guy to death with a tree branch while singing that song.

  • It's not what Paula Cole has done in the last decade. She hasn't had a recording out since 1999 and that was a bust. She has a major label, Decca, promoting a brand new album and I would say that had something to do with her being there. She was staple of college radio in the mid 90s. I did not hear her sing last night; I've heard the song enough. I also had a feeling that the song + venue would not be a good fit for her style.
