  • Corners just a little too bad for a 6 - looks like a 5! What is SGC the grade?

    I'd call it a very sharp 4.

"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

I'd be surprised to see it get a 5 with noticable rounding at all four corners. Are there any problems with the card that don't show up in the scan? Any wrinkles, or paper loss on ther back, anything like that? The card presents really well, with near perfect centering and strong color and registration, but if I had to guess based on the scan, I'd go with a 4. I bet it would sell closer to 5 territory because the eye appeal is so impressive.

    No wrinkles or paper loss.

The characteristic that is stunning for me is the centering....these are REALLY tough to find centered!

    5 what is it graded

I'll guess a 5 too. Could be a high-end 4 if there is such a thing. Nice centering.

    Why cross it?

He wants to cross it because it is a 5.5 and he's hoping it'll somehow get a 6 from PSA? That's my gander.
  • Looks like a real nice 5 to me too

edited to add: my guess is it's in a SGC 70 holder as well. If so, personally, I'd keep it in there.

    Either way, sharp looking card!

Thanks for all of your opinions......I would really like to see this in a different holder. To the naked eye you see some wear on the corners...no other problems though....you don't see many 48 leaf...let alone a Baugh rookie with near perfect centering. IMO, it has tremendous eye appeal. I would be fine with a cross over 5, but of course I would love to see a 6! I need to decide to cross or not...I don't want to cross and get a 4.

What do you guys think....Is it worth the risk in the drop in grade? I paid a little over $200 for it. Can someone share the SMR in 4? 5? 6?
