More Capped Bust Dimes

Here are a couple more Capped Bust Dimes.

The first dime in an 1829 JR-1. It is the Redbook variety Large 10C. This one was from William Subjack's personal collection. Subjack is one of the authors of the Early United States Dime book. I bought this dime from Jim O'Donnell. It is really nice in hand. It has PL surfaces and a nice strike. This variety shares the reverse die with the 1828 JR-2 AKA Large Date. In fact, the 1829 JR-1 was minted before the 1828 JR-2. This was graded NGC MS-62.

The second dime is an 1828 JR-2. It is rebook variety large Date. This one was from the Benson collection. I was the underbidder for this dime. Jim O’Donnell was the high bidder. Later, I stepped up and paid the price to get this dime. I was glad I did. It was a Redbook plate coin in 2005. It also shows up on a few websites. This one was graded PCGS AU-55
