Just my opinion but this is a shill set-up. Hello. How ridiculous is the concept of sending quality NGC/PCGS to PCI? Quite stupid and quite ridiculous. Geezzzz.
I'm still wondering if anyone want's to guess the grade and color that PCI gave this cent in a JT Stanton signature slab so I can post a pic of it in the slab. The pics not great but just a guess of what the highest grade and color you could expect it would get, the rev is similar to obv
thanks for the pictures, Gi; sorry but looks like you should have left well enough alone but at least the slab brands match each other now. tough to say if i agree with the pci grades before seeing better, close up, well lit pictures of just the coins, front and back (next request!) but they don't look too far off from here. were you shooting for upgrades or matching holders? some folks use flips or albums for mismatched crackouts.

From your obverse picture I'd say it was no better than AU55, the rub on the portrait is obvious. I could see PCI grading that thing MS64RB.
Two quick observations to add to this discussion: First, there was a time under their original ownership when PCI was very strict, especially on copper. I don't for one minute think that this one batch of grades means they have returned to their conservative roots.
Second, based on a very limited sample, I have seen evidence that the PCI signature series variety coin holders are gaining some traction in the market. For example, this 1936 Lincoln Cent DDO sold without a picture for very strong money, about what a PCGS coin would fetch in the same grade. Say what you want about J.T. Stanton's reputation as a businessman and author, there are apparently still a bunch of people who hold his attributions in the highest regard.

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

Would anyone ever believe that they graded it MS63 RED! It's so far from red!!!! I think JT Stanton is a great attributor and they got the variety correct but calling it red is amazing.
In my experience, when something seems really odd, it usually is.
Count me among the people who find it extreeeeeeeeeemely difficult to believe that someone would crack out a bunch of relatively high grade coins from N and P holders in order to send them to PCI in hopes of increasing their value.
<< <i>I dont beleive a bit of this. There is no way in hell walker was in an NGC MS64 slab. >>
I understand what you are saying, but I have seen some real dogs in NGC slabs. I was just looking at a toned seated dime today that was NGC graded MS-66, but has a mark in the right obverse field that was so bad on its own that the coin should have only been a 63/64. I'm not defending PCI's grading, but I won't go so far to say that a certain coin could not be in an NGC holder.
Edited for spelling.

don't kid yourself, there are a ton of dogs in PCGS holders too; and for that matter, a good majority of PCI slabs out there are true dogs.

You are certainly correct with that assesment. I was just basing it off the holder the coin was being compared to and a personal experience from today. There are many dogs in all types of holders.

For SkyMan Past the limit of my photo ability and my cameras also. "Juiced" a little to bring out contrast. The closeups have the light much closer to the coin. This Walker has plenty of luster and cartwheels like Nadia Komenich.
Thanks for getting back with pictures, Gi. It's more convincing and the lesson is a well taught one.
This shouldn't mean that people can go out and buy PCI slabs thinking they will upgrade coins, so I hope new collectors or adventurists don't buy into that thinking.
That coin looks a LOT closer to a 64 than a 50 to me. Given the limits of the image I am not seeing wear on Liberty's left breast or her leg or the upper right part of the eagle's (left) wing. The eagle's belly is harder to tell given the fuzz of the image there, but it still doesn't look worn to me.

Edit:
RYK, its about PCI downgrading in a big way and a new submitter to them who will NEVER crack out coins and send them to PCI again.
I think this is what is happening in the thread... but I'm enjoying it because the coins are cool.

My thoughts exactly. You'd be lucky to get strong 63 money.
