Help needed to identify a Gaylord Perry card

I need some help identifying a Gaylord Perry card. I wish I could provide a scan, but I do not have a scanner. I have searched eBay for months trying to find an example, but have come up empty handed. I will describe the card as well as possible.

The front of the card has Perry in a Giants uniform with a green border around the picture. His name is printed below the picture in red letters inside a yellow box, with 1962 printed in the top right corner of the yellow box. The back of the card lists the card as #1 in a series of 6. The number 1 is printed inside of a peanut. The back of the card goes into detail about how Perry won his first game as a rookie in Pittsburgh, April 25, 1962. There is no copyright date or manufacturer noted on the card (front or back). I assume this is not an officially licensed product.

I obtained the card from my grandfather who had Perry sign the card in the late 80’s early 90’s. I assume PSA would authenticate the auto even though the card may not be officially licensed. Is this correct? Thanks for any help provided.

That's from a set issued in 1983 called "Gaylord Perry Career Highlights." Six card set--you can pick up a set for around $10. I used to think that Topps issued these, but now I'm not so sure. Probably not.

Do you think they might have been part of a promo for his peanut farm ?

Beckett catalogues the 6 card set as:

    "1983 Topps Gaylord Perry"

I have a player collection for Gaylord Perry, and I too have card #1. I haven't searched for cards from that set in a while, but I have never seen any other card from the set besides the #1. If the set is available for $10 somewhere, please someone provide a link.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
  • Akbar,

The set is for sale under item # 190128819949 on eBay right now. It's listed at $6.95 with a little over two days left. The card I was refering to is in the bottom left corner of the scans provided.

If you don't win the auction, you can just buy a set out of Fritsch's catalog for about the same price ($8.95). Set is shown second from the bottom on the left.

I picked up this set from Gaylord Perry at a card show shortly after
he retired. He commissioned the set directly from Topps himself.
If I remember correctly it cost $25 autographed.
