Just wondering, because I need to purchase both to go with my buffalo gold set.
Also, recommend any sellers?

best bet is to check out a few auctions on ebay for a few days and see what they average...cant really go by the BIN's, they are alaways way too high. I would say in the 500-600 range
  • Prices realized on Teletrade are about even for either one ~1,100.

Wow, those on teletrade are way overpriced. I see one listed on ebay for 650 and another in the 700 range... was just hoping to see if I can get these at a lower price. BTW the ones on ebay are NGC (kinda what i'm looking for anyways)

  • That would explain the difference. Just remember top quality coins for a grade rarely go cheap image

  • No two coins of the same grade are the same. Look at the coin and buy what you like. A coin is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, PQ (premium quality) coins for a grade will generally sell for a premium over less appealing coins of the same grade. I would look and different coins of the grade you are looking to buy and buy the one you like best and can afford. IMO, In the long run you will be happier doing this than paying less for a coin that you may not like.

Yes I agree. its just that I'm building a registry set (all70's) as far as the gold buffaloes go, and I thought I'd also have the silver ones as 70's as well.

    Would that be
Premium (PCGS), Ethonal blend (NGC) or First Strike™

You didn't specify NGC or PCGS but it looks like you're looking at NGC coins so perhaps your registry set is Across the Street where you can use either NGC or PCGS coins as I understand it. Perhaps you've seen my posts pointing out that NGC grades more GOLD buffalos 70 than 69 so I ask which is the more valuable? There are more 70's than 69's?

NGC is a good company and I'm not trying to bash them but I want to point out the differnce between NGC and PCGS standards when it comes to moderns. I never recommend buying NGC 70s unless you can get them for PCGS 69 prices.

Here are the current pops for the 01 Silver Buffs

    NGC:

    Grade 69 70 Ratio

    MS pop 1038 6438 .16

    PF Pop 1233 6934 .19

    PCGS

    MS Pop 115 8101 .014

    PR pop 95 9355 .010

So the PCGS PR70DCAM buffalos are more than an order of magnitude more difficult to grade 70. Keep this in mind when shopping.

    Yea, funny pic.
This is the only series where I want to go all 70's.
NGC 70's are a lost cheaper than pcgs 70's and IMO an NGC 70 is just as good.

  • NGC does overgrade modern gold. I once submitted 3 2006-W 4-piece AGE sets. All of them came back MS70 except 1 $10 Eagle came back MS69. I was very happy, though quickly realized the value of a NGC gold 70 is nowhere near that of a PCGS 70 for the same coin. I will say overall, NGC does grade at a consistent level and with some coins like the Presidential Dollars they are more conservative than PCGS IMO.

I got my PCGS graded MS70 for $1050 about 3 months ago.

I'm very pleased with that coin, it's a real treat for the eye.

I will hold for several years, and I believe I will have a 2 or 3 bagger for sure.

Well I just think its ridiculous to pay $400 more just to have a pcgs holder.
Not talking about ICG, NNC, etc (all of those) talking about NGC. PCGS is a good company don't get me wrong, but im not going to pay that kind of premium when NGC is very close to it.

Very close dosen't count when you go to sell a coin. By all means collect what you like though, that is the most important part of numismatics
