Actually, I recall Watson's US Open collapse at Winged Foot CC in NY in the 1970's. He is a great player and unfortunately he will be remembered more for these two tournaments than the success that he had on the tour.

I disagree. Watson had one of the best careers ever on the PGA tour. He pwned the British Open and will be most remembered for his miraculous chip in on #17 at Pebble Beach to help him beat Jack Nicklaus. Great golfers don't close and win every time.

Barndog... I really want to be wrong here. Watson did have a great career on the Tour (and still does on the Senior Tour) and he has my complete respect as a player. I agree that one can not win them all... but it is very unfortunate to loose a Major in the manner that he did.

Agree with Barndog -- Watson is remembered most for his 5 British Opens and THE CHIP at Pebble Beach.

Watson just won his third. Pretty sure he will be remembered as a master of British Open golf

I missed it... good to read that he won. Without a doubt Watson has great talent...
