labeling your cards for submission, an observation

I noticed recently that the labeling suggestion that PSA shows on their "packing guidelines" page can actually INCREASE the risk of your cards being damaged in the mail or from handling.
When you stick a label on the back of a bunch of card savers, and stack them up, you'll notice that the stack is thicker where the spot that the labels are. If you press the stack down a little, you increase the risk of messing up your cards.
However, if you use a 1/4" x 3" file folder label, and put it across the top (behind the card-saver logo, where there's only 1 layer of plastic), the cards will lay flat and you eliminate the risk.

<< <i>Hey, I'm just trying to play by the rules, ya know? >>
Nobody is faulting you. I think it's a good tip. I was just saying, I don't label my submissions. I do make a point to put cardobard around the outside of each end and tape it together and then I bubble wrap or use peanuts in the box. Also make sure to mark the outside of your boxes in some bold color with the fastest service level and the special name. I mark every single side of the box in blue sharpie.
Never had a problem. (Well, PSA has been slow once or twice, but other that, I've never had a problem.

Hmmmmmmm, what does that mean?
<< <i>I always label mine; and I have never complained about my grades or length of time to get the grades.
Hmmmmmmm, what does that mean? >>
For that same reason I keep labelling mine.

<< <i>Well, asside from one time, I have never had to wait longer than 2 weeks for my grades to pop, and I usually only send during $5-specials, and at the last minute. >>
Me too. In fact, I have never had to wait longer than a week and a half.
And I NEVER label the Card Saver Is.
My bulk orders usually pop in 15-20 days too, with no labels.
Noticed a one grade increase on average!
I only label odd ball cards or inserts, not mainstream cards
Breakin' the law, breakin' the law........
i have even thought about not even filling out most of the order form other than say brand year number and player. since they still cant get labels on the slabs right even when you take the time to fill them out. but figured that would get the order on the problem shelf pretty quick.
