Just picked up a 1951 Topps Magic FB set (- Janowicz)

So here's the story with this. Local shop had this about a year ago, including the Janowicz. I tried to talk them down off the price of the set with no luck. I then tried buying just the Janowicz for my Heisman set, again no luck. Went into the shop today to see if they still had it, expecting they wouldn't and sure enough it wasn't in the case. I ask the buyer behind the counter whom I've dealt with a thousand times and said "nothing I could find, I was hoping you still had the 51 Magic set hiding but I'm not surprised it's gone". He walks to the back of the cashier desk and says "you mean this 51 magic set?".

I'm sure my face lit up like a 5 year old on xmas morning. He says we still have it, but someone stole the Janowicz out of it. Bummer... But make me an offer and it's yours. I then looked through a bunch of other vintage football he had and they had a stack of NM to NM-MT 61 Fleer football. I bought the entire lot.

Now the 51 Magics have all been scratched, they range from poor to VG-Ex with most being in what I would guess are PSA 2 range with an even number above and below that. Might be a couple of 4's in the lot but nothing better.

So I've now got a 74/75 set of 51 Magic. Now I just have to decide if it's worth keeping, selling raw or grading any of it. From the looks of things, grading these isn't really worth the fees. Neat looking set though.

Good for you! Personally I wouldn't bother grading them if you feel they are only in the 2 range, unless you want to register the set ofcourse. Good luck and enjoy!

    Hey Josh,

I've got an extra Janowicz that might fit into your set.
