What would you rather buy?

Im not buying it but I was thinking of these options.
Say you have 10,500 and you wanted to buy Fleer basketball wax.
Would you
A) Buy a 1986-87 Fleer complete wax box and pull 3 sets and 3 sticker sets, Maybe a 4th jordan.
B) Buy 10 Boxes of 1987-88 Fleer basketball and get around 33 sets and sticker sets. Thats 33 Jordans
C) Buy 20 Boxes of 1988-89 Fleer Basketball and have around 65 sets and sticker sets. 65 Reg jordan and other rookies and 65 Jordan stickers, chance at 10s big time.
What do yall think?

$10,500 poorly spent on any of those. I love those cards and sets, but I would not break that wax with that money.

Thanks for answer the question. But that was not what I was asking. If this helps. lets say you just won the lotto and it paid 10 billion bucks. And you were boared. And you wanted to open some wax. Before you say well then Ill just buy 20 of each. This is your only option. What would you rather have. Money is not an option. Just 1 of a through c is your option.

Ok then I open the 86-87 Fleer because the thrill of pulling a jordan rookie far outweighs opening tons of the other stuff. If you get lucky and get a lot of quality cards in the box you could do well, but if you get an 0/c box you are screwed.

    Agreed with Allen.

Though handyman, I don't think you can pull a Jordan rookie from 88-89 Fleer basketball.image

'86-'87 to go after the Rookie Jordan's, without question.
  • I'd go with the chance to pull a Jordan Rookie.

Well if I had 10 Billion bucks I would not even look at the examples you posted. I'd start looking for much older items to bust open.

I just can't become excited at bulk anymore...therefore, I would choose your first choice, of the three choices
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Of the 3 choices, I'd want to crack the Jordan rookie wax packs.
  • Agreed. Jordan Rookie. It also means you'd have less piles of cards stacked around your house. Which for me these days is a big incentive.

without a doubt the 86/87 fleer box

I have pulled several Jordans from Baseball Card Kid at Sportsfest and even did pack wars(4 of us) and myself and one other guy pulled Jordans so we kept our jordans and since he had the BGS 9 Jordan and mine was a PSA 8 quality he gave me the other cards.

I got a BGS 8.5 and sold it. However, the rush is insane when you pull a Jordan Rookie and even worse when you realize you may lose your Jordan for not having the second highest valued card.

I could have gambled- rules were highest dollar card takes all the cards and if their was a tie it goes to second card in pack. I didn't want to risk the best pull of a Jordan on a Olajuwon sticker value!

Pack wars?? Forgive my ignorance, but could you elaborate on how that's played?

Another vote for the 86/87 wax. I do not collect, or even follow, basketball but even I still covet the Jordan rookie. Same goes for the 79/80 Gretzky rookie. Each I would buy graded to minimize forgeries, but ideally would love to pull them from a pack myself to get that rush we all know and love so well.

As far as pack wars, there are many variations of the game, but it basically involves setting a criteria (most Yankees, highest book value, lowest card number, etc.) and then each participant opening a pack and seeing who best meets the criteria. That person gets everyone else's pack contents. Rinse and repeat until the packs are gone.
