I just stumbled across something cool on the Bay......Botanic Garden 1997 Matte Jefferson Set

I'm not a Jefferson collector, but this is one of the keys, right?
I thought the price wasn't out of line with recent sales figures so I snatched it up. No real good reason.

<< <i>One thing to remember about these sets.

Define "easy". They're bubble packed and the page is glued down.

Well I guess it's not that easy.
You do have to go buy more glue.
That set on Ebay looks ok but not nearly worth the $209 BIN it sold for. The dollar looks MS68 at best while the nickel photo just is not clear enough yo make any grading opinions on.
I picked one up earlier in the year for Greysheet bid which at the time was $180. Scored an MS69 dollar and an MS69 FS nickel. I thought the nickel would go MS70 but there is a teensy tine break in frost on the lower portion of Jefferson.
The name is LEE!
Hoard the keys.
<< <i>Doesn't matter how much glue you buy, the cardboard nearly gets destroyed when removing the coins. If these had been replaced, you'd certainly know it!

Sorry but that's just not true for all.
I purchased 80 of these from the mint when they came out and most could be opened with little effort.
The 94 set was no different. The Young Collector Series in like packaging, made about that time frame were the same as well. Sure some were stuck really well but most I handled were easy.
As I said, check them close. Years back many folks got screwed by this practice and I'm sure lots of bogus sets are still floating around out there. The mint made no effort as far as security with this type of packaging or any packaging I know of. It's the same with any coin. Check them close.

If they "sonically sealed" these mint producs (like some TPGs do with their slabs), would that make most people happy or unhappy?
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
