Do home runs hit in the All Star game and in the playoffs count?

For example if Bonds hits a homerun at the upcoming Allstar game would it count as #751?
Same question for homeruns hit in the playoffs?
I assume playoff homeruns (and other stats) are included in season and career totals, but I have no idea about Allstar game stats.

Does anyone know the reason for this baseball rule.
Further, if post season stats are added to the home run category, how, if at all, does that change the ranking of the players in the top 10?
How many post season home runs does Aaron, Bonds, Ruth, Mays, etc. have?

<< <i>Do the other major sports (hoops, football and hockey) follow the same rule regarding career stats? I can understand not counting Allstar game stats, but have trouble with not counting playoff stats in career stats.

thats another unfair comparison. aaron, mays and ruth could only play in two playoff series max a year. bonds could have played in 3 in some years. hence why only regular season stats count toward all time records. unless its a playoff record... ie most hits in a WS, TD's in a superbowl etc.

Playoffs do indeed count. By playoffs I am not talking about Divisional or league championship series. I am talking about when 2 teams tie for 1st place and the AL used to play a 1 game 'playoff' the NL a best 2 out of 3. The post season is not called 'playoffs' by MLB as a matter a fact they despise the term. From what I understand now the NL has adopted a 1 game playoff as well. They may use other critera now such as head to head or some other nonsense but in years past 'playoffs' occured and counted towards regular season stats.
In 1962 Maury Wills played in 165 games due to the playoff with the Giants.
In 1978 Guidry won his 25th game that way against the Red sox.
In 1957or 58 the Braves played the Dodgers in a 2 of 3 playoff and If I looked I could find some other times as well.
In 1982 the Brewers had a playoff with the Orioles with Sutton besting palmer in a thriller.
So, to answer your question, NO, allstar games stats do not count towards a players career regular season stats. YES, playoff stats do. Post season stats do not.

Check out the Major League Baseball rules governing tiebreakers, ... A playoff game for a division championship is played only if one of the clubs would not ...
MLB calls it a 'playoff' and yes it counts as a 163,64 or 65th game.
