Doesn't look like a scam to me and those collectors who would like to use these slabs for their collection might not like their coins called crap.

doesn't look to me like these holders try to imitate any TPG.

I do not see this as a scam. Self made slabs have been around for a while now. In and of themselves, I see nothing wrong with them. It only gets scary when the forgers try to make them look like a top TPG. That is when the scams start.

It's a scam only if a buyer uses them to fool people into thinking they are in a TPG slab.

Otherwise, they're a perfectly good way to protect coins.

Not only is it not a scam, but prior to the third party grading services, many dealers did slab their own coins. They'd stamp or write what the coine was, what condition they ascribed to it, and many times they'd put their business name on it. I have a number of coins purchased this way, although I have since switched them out of their original holders as technology has improved. I don't see any problem at all with dealers or collectors buying TPG "slabs" and slabbing their own coins. The shady practice comes about when they omit their own business name (as a dealer), overgrade junk, and try to trick the public into thinking they are a reputable grading company rather than just a coin dealer.

Yea it's not a scam just to sell holders for collectors.

It does show how easy it is to buy some slabs, print some labels with 4 letters and hope people think they're a legit TPG. Anyone can be ACME coin grading and hope someone believes their grades. Even that is legal.

It becomes illegal if they try to pirate a real TPGs name or loggo.

I have been able to buy CoinWorld holders and print labels for years. It's only a scam if people pass the holders off as TPG holders and sell them as overgraded crap.

Grading is subjective. We've all heard this said countless times.

Everybody had to start somewhere, even David Hall.

In this case, this seller is not grading coins ... just an alternate way of storing one's coins.

After seeing some of the grades that "NNC" gives their coins then nothing is a scam. ANyone can grade as bad as NNC.
