well knowing russ he got the coin for .50 cents and is quite pleased with the situation. i suppose i am used to and spoiled to seeing higher quality busties.
Hey Russ, you just had me scratching my head. I see your post title (thinking it was my post) and I see only six replies and I'm wondering what the heck is going on 'cause mine recently had over thirty replies. You got me good.

You're kidding, right?

To me the coin looks rather dull, lifeless, without caracter. NCS should be able to give it back some of it's life. If it was my coin that is what I would do.
Never teach a pig to sing. You'll waste your time and annoy the pig
Edited to add. This would be exactly like if you gave an NFL linebacker $300 to hit you in the face a couple of times as hard as he could; it's just a really bad choice.
I like that half! The gray is much nicer than any dipped bust half.
The before and after NCS shots are interesting. Looking at the after shots the Morgan looks better, the bust half dime doesn't look natural, the Ike looks better, the seated quarter looks destroyed and the spots removed from the gold is good.
This is a gorgeous 1807 CBH. As for the NCS babble, they would not "conserve" this coin because there is nothing to conserve and it would result in negative eye appeal. They hold to the right to reject to work on any coin if they believe it would harm the coin. This would be one coin they would not work on.
At the Baltimore show I wish I had dime for every time I heard a dealer say, "If this coin were white, I would be interested." "I take a half-diluted solution of jewel luster to that coin to make it attractive." Now I'm not talkig about ugly toned coins mind you. But the market appears to want white coins without any "character." This also ruins the flash you see on original uncirculated coins.
Why on earth would you want to work over that neat, original CBH? Isn't the desirability in a "crusty busty?"
I know what I like and it isn't always what the general public goes for. Nice bust half as is!
Hey Russ, You know what my thoughts would be about even bringing up the subject of NCS with a coin like this. It looks like it has seen a little wipe somewhere along the line, but they left a lot of packed dirt on and in this one. This grade of 1807 is a very collectible coin. The first thing my eye goes to when I see a coin like this is the strike, is it all there or not, then the surfaces including any luster, then I look for the wear, is it normal circulation wear? Nice dead on pic by the way.

Gee, thanks, I had no idea.

This is definitely not the time for conservation.

I don't think NCS would touch it.
