I buy all my expensive coins from zero feedback sellers.
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!
  • Wow that coin melts at $1250! Even if your not covered by PayPal, your still covered by your credit card if the seller dosen't deliver what he is advertising. image

The buyer just bought himself several months of grief.
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally

    I knew it would happen.
  • That is a $2200 coin. I'd buy it for $1000! image

What are the odds that the buyer will get this? (slim or none)
I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!

It's very possible the seller, being a newbie, anticipated that there would be a lot more bidders on this item, so he started it at $1 or 1 cent with a low or "no reserve". I've done this lots of times and coins sold for less than book or perceived value.

    P.S. I hope it wasn't a scam image
  • Dan from the Yahoo Platinum Group found PCGS 11218325 on a second Ebay Auction - link

Both Coins were for sale at the same time.

I'm the buyer for nice deal last night, however nothing is going out to him until we talk.

I suspect this is a 'second account' of this long-time EBayer.

I'll let you know what happens.
  • Please keep us posted. I understand that sometimes you put up an auction with the thought that a low start will bring more bidders and run the price up. I have done this with some success and some failures. When it doesn't work out, I honor the agreement and send the coin as promised. This is the risk you take. You just hope that the winners outnumber the losers!

  • I'll let you know is he ships it to me after I pay.

I won't pay untill I find out what coin I bought, if any ;>

that was my auction. That auction ended unsold and this brand new ebayer tried to make few bucks with my image.

    Contacted coinboy and notified ebay.

    David
  • Yup, it sure is and I will report it, too

    Thanks for the help, David.

I did a little hunting and got the info on him:

    User ID: opalcaesar434
    Name: Opal Caesar
    Company:
    City: Hermosa Beach
    State: CA
    Country: United States
    Phone: (310) 458-1125
Registered Since: Friday, Apr 07, 2006 14:36:09 PST

He claims Hermosa Beach, but the Phone Number is disconected and is listed under the Name "A. Darvis" in Santa Monica, which is on the other side of LAX (north) in an Office Building.

I know the area as I have a Branch Office in Santa Monica with my business.
  • This is so cool! I'm sorry that the coin didn't sell for mrmom, but I'm glad to see that coinboy didn't get burned on this either. I'm glad to see this board help out!

I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!
  • It is cool that everyone here and on the Platinum Board at Yahoo helps sniff out the scams.

Dan was the first to point out the (2) Sales, one legit (David's) and the Hermosa Beach weasel.

Obvously in bidding I suspected it would never go thru, but why not try?

There are no free lunches, but once in a while there is one that is allowed to slip by.
