What's Your Thoughts On This Sesqui "Updated w/My Pic's"

?????

"Both sides show deeply set and fully original shades of magenta and copper-russet tinting. Scattered ticks are the likely grade-limiting factors in the case of this near-Gem, however these appear with very little overall effect on the eye appeal."

I think the toning is fairly unattractive on this one.

It looks pretty dark. I would think luster would be the key on this piece, however, it might be too dark for the majority of folks regardless of luster. This is a coin I would have to see in-hand to really have any chance to appreciate.

Sesquis are notoriously fugly. This one posted by board member "jmj" is the only nice one I recall seeing:

Lee; it's too dark, should grade more like 62-63 with that much toning. l have owned a couple like that , very original and there is sometimes the suggestion that they could be nice if dipped, but very limited collector appeal as is.

Here is a blue and orange coin of mine, MS64, been in a PCGS and NGC holder, but I am not sure its NT

Why thank you Connecticoin! I love the coin, too. It drips luster and has some nice blue and gold tone to it.

Lee, im with the rest. Its too dark. I have heard PCGS can be pretty tough on darly toned coins like that. It is definately unique, though.

my first reaction was a bigtime possible score once in hand.
i thought the toning look interesting and original.
now that i have read the description of the person who has it in
    hand i am leery.

Lee you know I like toning on my commems but for me its too dark if the pictures accurately depict it.

Appreciate everyones thoughts on this one!!! I took a chance on this one and we'll see the results next week. I'll post my pic's of the coin when it arrives.

    Lee,

It might look a lot different than pictured. I'd guess the picture was taken very underexposed to try to bring out the color. Your pics are always great and I'll be looking forward to seeing them.

The present uneven too dark toning is unattractive. This Sesqui could benefit from a dip.

Your pics are always nice. The toning is still too much for my tastes but if you like it thats the only opinion that matters image

A bit too dark for me. If the luster is BOOMING then I may reconsider.

there are enough of these available in NGC/PCGS holders graded MS63/MS64 with nice luster, minimal marks, nice strike and soft, almost imperceptible tone that a bit a patience will find a nice example. hopefully you aren't stuck on this dark coin, your tastes seem to indicate better judgement and the coins you show us here should be ashamed to reside with this unnappealing Sesqui.......................

last two photo couplets are more like it!

decent luster, better than average strike, that's for sure.

definite keeper as a 4 in my book!
