Bought 4 "Unopened" 1965 SMS sets from a guy....

wasn't expecting much but the Kennedys seem to be a lot nicer than the normal Kennedy's I have been receiving in other sets. The devices are nice but the fields are a little dull although they do have some luster to them.

Would make some nice album pieces. Still they are better examples from a tough year to even find them in this condition. These pictures were shot using just regular lighting. Nothing special was used.

I doubt these will go cameo but they are very nice.

The light cameo pieces are very underrated.

I was thinking the same thing. It's just not all there for them to be that but they seem to be above average for this year.
  • Those look great, nice pickups image

How about sending them to PCGS like that ?
Maybe you can get the "first strike" label image

Seriously, PCGS might love to get a box like this ! And Jaime Hernandez would be most helpful in assisting you with this.

I know from his diligent effort how much he cares about moderns.

    Please do!

That box would not have lasted 5 minutes in my house.... image

    Do you submit ?
If so, do you know if "bulk" submission have to be 100 coins of the same denomination or could a guy get bulk rate for 100 SMS coins image
  • This one has a nice light blue color on both obverse and reverse.

I haven't submitted yet but some of the other big submitters here would probably know that answer. Russ would probably know more about that or maybe MadMarty.
  • Very nice at least MS68 IMO image

I've asked PCGS and yes they all have to be the same year and type for bulk rates.

Very nice looking coins. Did the "Blue" tinted coin come from the unopened box you showed earlier?

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

  • Wow some nicely toned Kennedys in here ....good advice to open grabba. This has been sitting around for a while so all toning has to be NT.

  • The fields look pretty good on that one. One thing I have noticed about the way the coins were packaged is that the
cellophane turns a brownish yellowish color from age and it is sort of hard to really tell what they look like until you cut them out. Of course the pros could probably tell immediately but not me. I get scissor happy sometimes. image

Yes, they are straight out of the box, i'm still looking.

Edited to add: Oh man....nicer one coming...pink AND blue. will take a pic.
  • I used auto focus on the reverse and it didn't come out as well.

A few of these have a rotated reverse to check for.

    They're very scarce though.
