Do any of you use Delcampe?

Howdy,
If you do use Delcampe, what has your experience been?

I've been trying to pay for an auction I won for over a month now, honestly it's been the most painful online purchase I've ever made in my whole life. Either there is a huge language barrier, the seller indicated that English was one his languages, or the guy is just a jerk. Twice I've emailed him with questions, like clarification of payment and he won't respond to me, but re-sends the invoice, which is in French, and even in translation (babelfish) I still don't understand.
So I finally made it to a fax machine yesterday to try faxing this guy my visa info, both fax #'s listed don't work, but then I figure I may not have the right country code. No one where the fax machines are could help me in getting the right code either. So back home, get the right code........ now all I have to do is get back to a fax machine! If it wasn't for the Burundi clivia stamp I've been hunting for for so long...

I'm not saying Delcampe is bad, mostly just this seller. He will go on my black list for sure.

Sorry to hear of your bad experience. I have not used or even heard of Delcampe until your thread. I did a quick look and see its an auction type place like eBay. Their help faq says if you have problems, you can email Delcampe direct at info@delcampe.com or fill out their form with your user id and item# in question. I would hope they would have the sellers direct phone number or can intervene to settle your issue.
  • Seems like the dumb-ass would want his money.

So, Birdies, anything else yet? Hi Doug. Hi Laceupboots.

Hi Jerry, long time no hear.

As to Birdies' seller, maybe the guy didn't sell it high enough and now does not want to complete the sale. I'm not familiar enough with Delcampe to know how their reserves work.
  • Hi Jerry, Hi Doug. I don't mean to be crass, I was having a bad day, it's still a valid question. No matter how small the sale, good customer service is still the only way to stay in business.
Birdies what kind of flowers did you say you collected? I collect plumerias. Hope you get your stamps.

Hi Laceupboots. That seller was probably a coin dealer and French. image We all know about their customer service. Sadly, in a lot of businesses, plain ole good service is becoming a thing of the past. And the worse part is that these businesses have the small customer base who can keep them around and could care less about the beginner or small-time buyer. Anyhoo, I hope Birdies does get her stamps.
