Just bought $500 face of '64 Kennedys and....
I have no clue what to look for in the way of varieties. Has anybody got a reference for

thanks,

Are you saying you bought $500 of 1964 Kennedy's at face value? That would be 361 ounces of silver = $4,400
Guy wanted to unload as he was moving and didn't want to mess with the weight and has had my
number for over a year (from an old Newspaper ad).

Kennedy Varieties
the lead.

<< <i>No, not quite, bought $500 worth of Kennedys (1,000 coins). Got them for $2.00 each or 4x face.

Did he owe you money or something? 4x's face if they are all 64's is about half of what he could have gotten for them at almost any shop.

Only 4x face for 90% silver?
That sounds more like the going rate for the 40% silver.

So are you saying he should have told the guy that the shop down the street would give him more for his coins than he would?
have cash right then and there. He was super pleased with the cash and so was I with the
silver. He collected them from circulation and there are only 3 rolls of UNC coins.

Sounds like you got a good deal

No, I believe I asked if the guy owed him any money, and then commented that the seller could have sold them elsewhere for double. If I would have said something like "Geez you should have told the guy that the shop down the street would give you more" then you would be correct.
The seller and I are the same age and have spoken several times over the past
year or so. He was well aware that he could get more. I don't know if he ever
contacted anyone else or not. He said that you have to leave some checkers on
the table or you won't have a game to play.
To me, that cinched the deal. Take some and leave some (profit that is) and
I was not about to get in a pissing match with a guy that want to sell his pocket
silver at his price. At this point, yes I have an instant profit if I sold. However,
I will be holding this till I retire in about 7 years. Who knows what the price of
silver will be then? Maybe I didn't do so well.

That will help....now if I can just get someone else with young eyes to do the looking! Actually, I'll use
my QX5.

and picked up the 3 rolls at the bank.
We all knew that the 64's were the last of the 90% silver coins. Silver dollars were actually in circulation
at that time too. I wish he'd have save them instead!

I see...I am so used to reading the "she should have or he should have done it this way" threads that I just figured that is where you were going.
