Any ideas about the date of this medal?

I'm reasonably sure that's actually an Ethiopian medal - the script looks more like Ge'ez than Armenian. The Lion of Judah and Seal of Solomon in the coat of arms are also noted Ethiopian symbols during the time of the monarchy.

I don't think there's anything "religiously" about it, either, unless it was issued by the Rastafarians - I'm pretty sure that's emperor Heile Selassie on one side and his coat of arms on the other.

So the seller's got two words in his auction title wrong so far - it doesn't make me trust his claim that it's made of gold.
Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.
    Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, "Meditations"

Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD. B)
