Dansco anti-corrosion slipcover report for silver eagles...

I have been buying silver eagles for my room-mate as part of a rent agreement since 2004-- I've already gotten him a complete set and have been buying a fresh, blast white coin in January of each year they came out. Because I wanted them to stay white and toning-free, I purchased a corrision free slipcover for the Dansco set I placed them in from Brent-Krueger..
Again, they were all blast-white when I placed them in the album, and I wasn't hoping for any toning at all. Needless to say, I'm pretty disappointed.

This is about three years of toning in the light humidty of Sunnyvale, CA. About half of the coins in the album look just like these.

<< <i>I am no expert on toning, nor the Dansco album and slipcover. These ASEs have the tendency to tone and usually in an unattractive fashion. I am not sure that one can necessarily blame the album, but from what I have heard here, the Intercept Shield album is better crafted to inhibit toning. Perhaps someone else can shed some more light on this. >>
I know....totally unattractive! I should just melt these rather than keep them (they have been left out in the open air for a couple of years now...in one of those cheesy SAE holders you get for a buck or so)...reverses are still totally white and untoned....
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I'm not against toning, but my room-mate doesn't even know what toning is. He thought they were somehow getting "dirty" somehow.
If you want to keep the Eagles "blast white" (boring imo), then buy them slabbed instead. That'll go a long way to keeping them "clean". I like the look of that album toning, and yes, Bochi, those coins are cool.
<< <i>So has anyone figured out a way to keep their silver eagles "blast white"??? >>
A little dipitty do always works!
All mine ASEs are still blast white. I keep them in Intercept Shield 2x2's and then have all the Intercept Shield's in an Intercept Shield box made to fit them. Probably over kill, but I haven't noticed any toning at all.
at least they're 'spot free'

I am toning up a double SAE that I should go check out.....

Thanks.
I was a "white silver purist" before too. Now, I can appreciate both blast white as well as naturally toned that looks nice. Nothing wrong with either side but once someone understands that toning can happen in many environments, the easier it is

Each went into an Airtight capsule that somewhat match what the proofs come in.
Eagle makes a page these fit really well in.
None show spots or toning.

AirTites work for me. Out of all of the ASE's I have had over the years, very few if any have toned.
