Problem ebay buyer to be aware of

TexastTexast Posts: 1,899 ✭✭✭✭
I had a buyer that bought an item this past Saturday that is already complaining on Monday that I did not ship until Monday, I emailed him to explain my postal proceedures, the fact that I always take the items to the post office and have the items scanned at the counter and get a receipt of acceptance, this was not possible on Saturday afternoon, small town post office closed Saturday. He continues to send irate email that it should have been shipped earlier. I'll probably get a neg from him, first in six years and over , and yes he is a newby to ebay. If you would like to avoid this buyer the username is baldwin0221 I have blocked him and I leave it to you if you want to take the chance with this buyer.

BTW - For those that have sent me messages and offered prayers for my Son and his Wife serving in Iraq I very much appreciate your support. My Son, a Combat Medic, makes daily patrols in Ramadi in the Anbar Province, and his Humvee has suffered two recent IED attacks, he was uninjured in both, durring his first tour he was injured twice by IED's. I know your prayers are working. Please remember all of our troops in harms way. This Fourth of July I will send a Small American Flag to anyone that PM's me and request one. No Cost. Just my way of saying thanks.

My understanding is that he cannot neg you until he utilizes the dispute process first. I may be wrong, but I recall this being a change to keep chumps from winning auctions for the purpose of leaving negative feedback -- would work well in this case also.

Bad buyers can NEG good sellers immediately after
    the listing is ended.

    Yep they can neg you.

Maybe the one way out is if you offer a refund and cancel the sale then I think they can't give feedback. Isn't that true?

    Nope.

Once the listing is ended, FB can be left.

    No exceptions.

  • Recently I had a buyer get cranky with me after he won an auction that ended on a Saturday afternoon. They emailed all antsy on Sunday and I had to cool them down and remind them what day of the week it was, that the post office doesn't ship on Sunday.

What do you think the problem is in those situations? OCD? Drugs? Pay me for the coin, but my gosh, pay a friggin' 'tention!

I searched some old threads and my recollection was incorrect -- this only applies if you file and NPB and the buyer does not respond. Thus a deadbeat cannot neg you after an NPB without responding to the NPB. It would be nice if they could expand this to ALL auctions -- i.e. you cannot leave a neg in ANY case unless you go through the dispute process.
  • I have noticed there has been a growing trend with unrealisticly impatient buyers lately. I do not understand what is causing it. I guess some people think if they can pay instantly through PayPal, then the item should arrive instantly also!

I suspect this guy will want to return the coin as soon as he gets it. If he is that fidgety, he will find something about the coin that bothers him.

heh OCD is bad. I have it and I have to be careful when I start in on a subject. It seems to drive you over the edge...and fast!!!! lol Once you are focused on a subject you just can't stop thinking about it.

This is exactly the reason that in all my auction now I have the statement " Auction items will be shipped within 24 business hours " If they want it faster....then they need to look elsewhere as I do have a life.

Sorry, if this is a stupid question......but what does OCD mean?

    OCD = Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I think you can specify a 'handling time' when you list the auction. I always specify 4 business days, but I almost always ship in less....

People often seem to not understand that small town Post Offices do not open on Saturday. Sometime, people have an issue with a seller waiting for a check to clear, even if it is clearly stated in the auction.

Sounds like this person will go onto my blocked list.

I had one guy give me positive feedback but his comment was: "Nice item but it took a couple months to receive". The auction ended on the 2nd of the month. He received the item on the 6th of the same month.

Good example. Unfortunately, I think most of these buyers who have lost track of time are aged. I have a friend in a nursing home that I speak to daily and he sometimes asks what I've been doing in the months since we last spoke. --jerry

a couple weeks ago i sold a 2007 ase to a guy, before he paid he asked when it would be shipped,i said within 24 hours, he paid i shipped,a couple days later he wants proof i shipped,i sent him the uspo tracking # (insured) 3 days later he pretty much accuses me of lying about sending the coin and wants his $ back now! i told him that i have no control over this once the uspo has it,i told him i would look into it and would get back to him in a couple hours,in the meantime i'm thinkin this guy has a 250 100% feedback but he's going off the deep end,i told my wife this guy is going to give me my first neg. ever (900/ 100%feedbacks) so just as i was about to give this guy a full refund thru paypal just to get rid of him,i get a message from him

"DEAR BEERS, GOOD NEWS, A POST MAN SHOWED UP AT MY DOOR A FEW MINUTES AGO WITH THE COIN. IT SHOULD'NT TAKE ELEVEN DAYS.I WILL LEAVE POSITIVE FEEDBACK ANYWAY. THANK YOU MIKE

this item ended on 6/23...he paid on 6/24....shipped on 6/25...he got it 7/3 @ 10:45 am...the uspo was a liitle late (first class insured) but this guy was just frantic...

i didnt want to but i blocked him after that..........just a little too freaky for me...

i just wen to block "baldwin0221" and he was already blocked a while back, some else on the board must have had problems with him before.....

    Blocked. Thanks.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • I use Priority Mail for less expensive items <$500. It is a bit higher in cost, but the USPS has metrics that they have to meet for this service of 2-3 days and I state this in my auction listings. First Class does not always get it there that quickly. It once took 2 weeks for a check to get to me from upstate NY and I live in NJ. (It might've been a 5 hour drive for me to just go pick it up!)

It is important to keep in touch with the buyer to reassure them that you are not running away with their money (which SUMORADA did). I've had those E-mails too of "Hey you cashed my check and I don't have the coin" when the auction stated clearly that I waited 10 business days for it to clear before shipping.

Some people just don't understand how this works or they are too impatient to let it work. But I've had pretty good luck with most.

Thanks for posting the IDs of the real "problem children"! If I have one, I'll let everyone know as well.
I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!

I wasn't too upset by it and never emailed him with a question why he said what he did but that struck me as odd. It may very well have been someone who has trouble with time, scatterbrained or just confused me with someone else when he was going through leaving a bunch of feedback.

I have had people panic after about three days. I explained to them that the item was shipped. These same people would email me with panicky emails daily. After a few of these I pretty much started getting a tracking number and tell them to follow that instead of bugging me.
