Unlimited mintage= no chance for flippers to flip for a profit. Mintage: To high to count.

Welcome vicennes...........I Think this is a dud just like the 1999 Silver proof sets vs the 2000 sets. Thar said, watch the following years as those that buy this year may be possibly be discouraged next year....Rick

    Vincennes, Welcome to the boards!

I think they will pull the plug because there is just too much stuff for them to make and package. The only question is how soon?

I think mintage will be a minimum of 6 times this number.

But if the mintage is 1.2 million that would still be low in the overall scheme of silver eagles.....

I don't see these selling for less then or at mint issue price for long after these go off the market.....
Collection under construction: VG Barber Quarters & Halves
  • I feel they will have a mintage above the 2006 W but will have a mintage much smaller than any regualr Bullion Solver Eagles ever minted...Remember the mint is minting these as a new diverse way in which to collect Silver Eagle Bullion so you know the mintage will be smaller than the Regular Bullion coins...so I would still collect a box of 20 on these.
  • I'm still going to be collecting these, I just don't think there is going to be anywhere near the price of the 06-W. The quality of the coins is also going to mean a lot of MS-69 and 70 coins . I can only see NCG pops, but the '95 through '98 ASE show pops of 46-51,000 in MS-69 and 70 compared to the 06-W at over 83,000 with a much lower mintage of under 500,000. I'm sure that the percentage of ASE's graded by PCGS was higher in those earlier years was higher than now since the possibility of a MS-70 was still there, but the ratios shoud be close. I can foresee at least 150,000 pop slabbed by NCG. Those that are members can add in the PCGS pops for these coins.

Added: Thanks for the PCGS pops FlBuffaloHunter. I'm suprised the pops of the earlier coins was that low but the totals show my point that there are a much higher percentage of the higher grades 06-W coins in the total pops. I don't see any reason the high percentage of 07-W MS-69 and 70 will decrease from a year ago

So if the 2007-W's are low mintage, would that drive the cost of the 2006-W down?
    Working on my 7070

  • Thanks Buf Hunter, that was very interesting.......

I have 10/5/5 still in the box but with reports of some loose and out of their case I hesitate not to open them.
  • So if the 2007-W's are low mintage, would that drive the cost of the 2006-W down?

No, if the mintage is more than 2006 and less than all the others than it will drive the 06 up!

The mintage may be high, but if you can pull off a few ms 70's it was worth my money that I gave the mint.

Anyone, other than me, notice that the 2000 Millennium ASE has a total pop of 538 in all grades ?

Are there any striking differences compared to the regular issue 2000 ? Don't remember ever receiving
any information on that set...did it also include the four gold coins in MS ???

Nope. No strking differences at all.

<< <i>any information on that set...did it also include the four gold coins in MS ??? >>

No. It came with a burnished SAC 1$ and a one dollar note with 2000 in the serial number.

Not all of the Sacagawea's in the Millenium set were of the burnished variety. More info here.
