Yeah, that's one of the most interesting features. Also, the "50 Cents" instead of Fifty Cents" on the reserve.

This piece appears to be the one that is listed as obverse 3 plus reverse C (1838 3/C) in Contemporary Counterfeit Capped Bust Half Dollars by Keith Davignon. The reverse was also used paired with obverses for 1833, 1836 and 1837.
