<<< up for bid is a 1909-1911 ty cobb baseball card.best offers accepted, want to get rid of card fast. >>>

Only if I lived near Kokomo and could pickup the card would I bid on it. If I did live within easy driving distance, I would pursue this - I mean why not?

But I would have to believe that a number of people already have made him a nice "best offer" on this card with the stipulation that it had to be a pickup.
  • I bet it gets pulled before it even gets close to ending.

Why would it get pulled? Im not saying that the guys is on the level or anything like that, but unless there is proof that the picture is stolen from another auction, this auction is not breaking any eBay rules. It's even graded just the way eBay likes it to be. (I had my raw Aaron rookie pulled 3 times from eBay)

Do I think it's on the level......that's not for me to say.

    Will I be a active bidder......no.

0 feedback would steer me away even if I had the funds to take a serious shot at winning the card.

    Just sent this off.

    Hello,

I see you don't offer pick up because of no protection for payment. Would you allow pickup with my attorney present? Of course we would have a payment contract signed before I would travel to Indiana to included payment in cash instead of a cashiers check to ensure your protection for any recourse.

The payment contract would include only two stipulations for your part.

    1. You are the rightful owner of the card.
    2. The card is authentic and inspected by a third party.

If either of these two stipulations is not met the contract would be null and void.

Let me know if we can proceed.

I'm no expert but that looks like a picture taken of a color print of the original card.

See the sides, how it kinda blurs into the slab... And the card appears to be elongated... Does that make sense?

The reason I say this is because way back in the day, I knew someone who made fake IDs with a color copier. Where color met white, it blurred just like above.

    / $0.02

Edited to clarify and hopefully make more sense image

  • interesting that the pop report shows zero PSA 7 Cobb green portraits with the sc back. could that be an error?? There's 1 piedmont and 17 american beauty unless I'm not reading it properly or this is an error.

labels with the back designation is a new feature for PSA. That 7 was slabbed well before.

On Jun-25-07 at 09:35:37 PDT, seller added the following information:

no pickup i have no protection through ebay/paypal.pay me through paypal and you are guaranteed.

I agree with stown, it appears that the 'card' is sitting on top of a PSA slab.

Let me clarify my opinion, which could be completely unfounded and a figment of my imagination.

I believe someone (perhaps the Seller) printed out a scan of the holdered card on a color/laser printer and then took a picture of it.

    IMO.

Possible. however, to me anyway it looks like it is just sitting on top of a slab.

    could be the scan.

    I dunno

    Imagine that.
  • The reason it should have been pulled is for soliciting off Ebay offers. That is a big NO-NO.

    A couple of things I don't understand ?

    1. How does anyone prove that they are the owner of a card ?
I mean I can see some kind of record of a person owning the card because it has been graded , so there must be some kind of paper work , but what if it wasn't graded , could anyone just say that this was their card ?

    2. Hasn't the card been inspected by a third party and graded ?

But mostly what bothers me about that is I just don't understand how anyone could prove a certain card is theirs , I don't understand what prevents people from saying OH man that is my card , this guy is trying to sell my card .

    3. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this ever happening before , someone selling off someone elses stuff ?
