On ebay right now are 2 1959 topps football cello packs with stars on back certified by one of the Beckett sub companies. Whos doing these....Gary????

Wow, this is news to me! I didn't know they were even planning to get into pack authenticating. Anyone have any info?

I still don't get it. No grade, no authentic or anything.
Only states what it is....so what's the point?

I actually like the idea of holdering packs without an assigned grade. After all, the grade of the pack itself has absolutely nothing to do with the cards inside, as I've pulled PSA 10s from GAI 7 wax and PSA 8s from GAI 9 wax. For me personally, the authenticity of the pack should be the only issue.

Wonder what kind of grade it would get with a partially rubbed back?

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

So basically someone paid $16 for a holder and label. Wow, what a service they provide.

Beckett gets absolutely zero respect in the vintage card market - so why would anyone send them vintage packs to grade? They need to stick to slapping BGS 9.5 grades on shiny crappy cards for their "preferred" dealers.

Edit to say - I realize they aren't "grading" them, just authenticating them (I think that's the point of this service) but it's still ridiculous.

The bottom line is, for serious investors of unopened material, PSA is the only place to turn.

PSA is committed to being the "Grader of Choice" through product and service excellence. Their emphasis is being a responsible, innovative business partner that provides value-added services to collectors and dealers worldwide.

Their goal is to collaboratively leverage other's parallel products so that they may continually build professional services to exceed customer expectations and empower collectors.
