General Grading Question

I have been collecting cards for 21 years, but just got into grading cards within the last year. I have been reading the message boards and I have read threads where collectors weren't happy with their grades and talked about re-submitting them to see if they would grade higher. My question is: Do you think it is possible that PSA marks the cards they grade in case someone tries to re-submit a card? It might sound silly, but their other company PSA/DNA marks their submissions with an invisible, synthetic dna, so why wouldn't PSA do it to their cards? Besides, what is the purpose of the dna if the item already has a hologram? Also, is there any logical order to the serial number on the PSA label? The cards that I just got back this week all start with a 3, but I have seen others that start with 4, 5, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

  • No logical order to the cert numbers.

I don't think PSA tabulates which cards are submitted--and they definitely don't mark cards...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?
