I am shocked by the lack of 9's. The 67 Topps and Phillys, the 68 Topps and Stand Ups were all absolutely stunning.

Amazing that I am still submitting cards to them.

The 1967 Jackie Lee was a resub of a PSA 6. Now its an 8. I am getting real tired of this.

I cannot fathom how the 1968 Stand Ups were not 8s. They were some of the nicest I ave ever seen.

Sorry about the grades Zef, Psa has been stingy with the Koochie lately.

    I hear you, Zef.

I, too, became very tired of this treatment.

I hate when an entire sub is off by about a grade apiece - seems to happen about 10% of the time. Nauseating when it occurs. Sorry Zef.

Must have been that NEW grader they hired of the message board that doesn't need to use anything except his good eyesight because he is soooooo knowledgable. ***POOF***
  • How much did it cost you to grade all these? Do you plan on just reselling them? Do you stand to made any kind of a profit? I'm just trying to understand the cost-effectiveness here. Thanks!

Did they actually hire somebody off the message boards?

    Sorry to hear that zef.

    Better luck next time?
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

    $6 a card.

I'd rather not discuss my business model although I'll tell you that most of these cards have been in my collection for quite some time and they will certainly sell for more graded than un garded. However, many of which would not recover the grading fees if I sell them.

too bad Zef.....looks like PSA 10's and even 9's are few and far between lately...

could the high quality raw stuff be drying up?

i know after awhile, i eventually send in cards that were at the bottom of the big stack (and were not good enough for the first 10 submissions!) they come back as PSA8 and PSA7....you get this watering down effect, unless you constantly replensih your supply of raw cards....

who knows why the seemingly tough grading lately...

Jordan, do you still have some raw 58 fb available? I am needing a bunch still. Will buy,

Maybe they hired Gary and he is getting back at board members. Or he is swapping out his cards into your submissions.

That 66 Philly Charley Taylor is nice. Any interest in selling that one?
  • handymanhandyman Posts: 5,321 ✭✭✭✭✭
Its been really bad lately. I sent in 50 cards that came out of a 1959 Topps Football vending box. I sent in only the sharpest cards and I got 3 6s, 12 7s, and only 4 9s. The rest 8s. If a dealer sent them in, I know he would have had at least 10-15 9s. And all the 9s were given at the end of the submission. As if he knew he should give me some 9s. Very strict grading lately.

    Thats odd....

The conspiracy theories are EXCLUSIVE to disappointing results. image

Still waiting for "Too many 9's from my sub, something is going on here, I am emailing Joe." image

Lets just say that after I popped a PSA 5 for resub, after I could not find the flaw, AND IT CAME BACK A PSA 9!,
I stopped chasing vintage PSA 9's!

I still think PSA is still the best choice, but after that, I stopped putting much stock in the expertise of the graders.

    Loves me some shiny!
