Can anyone give me info for Ben's Coin and Gun shop in Daytona Beach?

Back in the late 60's and 70's, as a kid on holidays, my brother and I would spend hours in Ben's Coin and Gun shop, located in Daytona Beach FL. In fact, his shop was directly in front of the state police department!

I've often wondered what happened to Ben. He was a huge man and when he would come out from the back of his shop, he would always be drinking Iced tea, not from a glass but from this giant glass pitcher. He always treated us right and he always remembered us year after year.

hmmmm......he was a large man, dealt in guns, and was located next to a police station. this is probably the LEAST likely coin store in America to get robbed

Not to mention he drank iced tea by the pitcher

Sounds like my kind of shop! I lived in Clearwater, FL during that time ('68-'74) and spent every cent of my money at the Court Street Stamp & Coin shop. As far as I know, it's still there.

No info on the OP shop in Daytona, though.

Sorry, don't know anything about Ben's Coin shop - however, I thought I would bump this tread with a picture of a coin shop in Daytona Beach. I recently took my family on a vacation from northern Minnesota to Florida and did the Disney World, Sea World and Daytona Beach thing for a week. Driving through Daytona Beach, I say this shop and snapped a quick picture. And no, I didn't stop by as I figured I would get heck from the wife and kids for stopping to look at coins while taking our first family vacation on 5 years. If anyone knows the name of it, please PM me so I can add it to the photo. Thanks!
