question for the 1952 topps mantle experts

although i am fairly familiar with the 1952 topps issue, i am alittle lost as to why this version of the 1952 topps mantle does not have the white dot (blue pixel missing) on the left hand side in the blue background as does every other (b) version of this card. no black box around yankees and the squiggly above his name indicate that there should be the missing pixel, but the pixel is not missing on this one. it should be about 1 inch from the top of the card. that background is solid blue. i included a scan of one of my mantles (the psa 5) for comparison sake. anyone know??

Two possibilities, either the card is an example from that printing plate from just before the fleck developed - or, someone, perhaps unknowingly, thought it was a dust fleck on the holder and covered over it in Photoshop.

The Mantle card was Double-Printed, and there is at least a back variation that is known between the two. Are you sure both versions of the Mantle card have the white dot?
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

actually i just got off the phone with a very prominant dealer who said that it is probable that the scans were -how should i say it nicely- umm--- adjusted. no way the white borders are that white. makes sense now. that can be why the white dot doesnt show up in the scan.

the (a) version does not have the dot. it also has a solid box around the yankees logo and a solid black line above his name

the (b) version has the white dot. no solid box around the yankees logo and squiggly line above his name.

both scans above are of (b) versions. below is a scan of the (a) version i just came across as a reference.

It takes just one simply click in Photoshop to remove Dust & Speckles, whether from the scanner, holder or card.
