19 day delivery for priority package, nice.

i refunded a seller who purchased a 1969 psa 8 bobby bonds rookie card last week. the card arrived today, 19 days later, the box was damaged and the card had been re-wrapped w/ bubble wrap and sealed w/ a priority sticker.

wtf is going on at the post office? the mail to addy was correct.

was this on Ebay, or did he buy it unseen? If the former, I don't get it...the buyer wins your PSA slabbed card, recieves it....and then feels like he wants a refund? what did he expect a PSA 8 to look like, especially after looking at a scan?? I know there are "low 8's" and "high 8's", but that seems pretty weak on his part.

not buyers fault. post offices fault.

we had processed a refund last week, thinking the card would never arrive to him. the box also arrived partially open, but amazingly enough the card was okay.

this is a dig on the post office, not the buyer or seller.

he paid $4.61 for priority mail, which i sent, but it took almost 3 weeks for it to arrive and when it did, it was open, the box damaged and the card had been re-wrapped by somebody other than me?

ps: buyer was very cool and understood problem was not my fault, especially since package was postmarked 6/1/07

I had a similar experience yesterday. I picked up 3 boxes of BCW pages shipped Priority, and the perforated seam where the side flap folds up had been completely severed, leaving the box wide open. I've purchased pages from the seller several times and have had no problems, so I would have to assume it occured during shipping.

I recently had a package arrive about 17 days after it was shipped. You would think the Post Office would be more on the money now after after recently raising their fees so much. That's certainly not the case so far though.

They raised the fees of stamps etc because of the increased costs of delivery (mostly gasoline). Exactly 0% of that money went to the carriers who use our own trucks. Our EMA (equipment maintenance allowance) which includes gasoline actually went DOWN and is lower than it was when gas was under $2.

I haven't been seeing more crushed boxes but I'm positive it's because of the flat rate boxes. They go on the same conveyor belt, drop into the same receptacles as the boxes containing our cards and much more fragile things. Flat rate boxes are more dense by design, and there's a much greater chance of damage.

I pick up 20 boxes that are 68-70 pounds each, every saturday. The guy ships them across the country for under $10 each.

  • They did not just raise fees in many areas they actually cut staffing. My local PO used to have 5 FT employees after the increase they cut it to 4 employees who get like 32 hours a week..

I was told today by a PO clerk that Parcel Post was averaging 3 weeks from coast to coast. Apparently they're just running behind.

Do you know what that guy is shipping that weighs 70 lbs? He is definetly getting his money worth.
  • I shipped a collection of cards to California from Massachusetts...it took 19 days Parcel post. just plain silly. No excuses.

Yep I do - he's shipping reloads. Packs them to where a speck of dirt wouldn't fit. The poor clerk in my office is 50 years old, little under 5' tall and way under 100#. Her job is to pack them into a cart. I do it for her to save her back.

Parcel post is kind of like media mail, it goes when there's room. I get lots of packages from pittsburgh area overnite, west coast stuff usually a week or more. Priority is much better. Depends a lot on the shipping office and the distribution plant. Some days I get 30 packages to deliver, some days 200. I hate the 200 days image

  • The post office has been "weird" since the new rate changes. I pretty much send everyting with delivery confirmation. It took 7 days for a card to be delivered to Texas, AND I'M IN OKLAHOMA!! I mean I can't blame, what use to be, my 1972 Topps Gale Sayers BGS 8.0 for not wanting to go to Texas but Jeez. Just kidding. I had a card that was sent to me take 14 days after it was postmarked that came from Nebraska. On my end I guess it could take longer because I drop the package in a drop box on my way to work instead of hauling it to the post office and dropping it in the inside box. But, surely, that couldn't make that big of a difference. It's bad enough that sellers packaging methods are getting worse and now the PO is taking forever. I'm sure glad they raised the rates so I could get 6 pieces of junk mail to be delivered today. I pay my bills online to avoid buying stamps. And yes, I called you Surely.

I sent my last two shipments from a Pittsburgh suburb on 06/14/2007 via First Class Mail w/ delivery confirmation. One made it to a Milwaukee suburb on 06/16/2007. The other arrived in San Francisco on 06/18/2007. When I send packages from the general mail facility in the city, it usually cuts a day or two off of the delivery times.

The people at the post office by my office are very helpful, knowlegable and nearly always friendly. Perhaps I live in the Twilight Zone.

Wow, 19 days for priority mail. Priority mail is the biggest ripoff and profit maker for the post office. Some sellers will only ship that way too. They're too lazy to buy their own supplies and have cheaper shipping rates (not you Julen).

Other than a few glitches with shipping as posted above, I find the post office to be a pretty good value with fast service in most cases.

In that case I think i should ship everything media mail, since its going to take forever anyway, and make more money/charge less for shipping image
  • Except for the negs that will come when your packages get inspected and found to be non-media mail items, They will charge your buyer to deliver the item.

Most of my items have been taking 2 to 5 days on all fronts.
