Everyone is entitled to his opinion..........

I bought a Gehrig rookie from Mastro in April and put it into my ebay store at twice what I paid. yesterday I get this lovely message in my ebay box:

<< <i>In the Sports Collectors digest 2007, your card in ex goes for 6000 dollars. Just because you turned your piece into a museum doesn't make it worth that much money! Graded cards stink! The cards were issued to handle and be fun, no to profit from it! Shame on you. I hope you never sell it! >>

pure ignorance. so is that loser entitled to get paid at his profession i wonder??

you took the risk, you laid out the money, you are marketing the card, so you are entitled to whatever profit you can earn!

In my experience, fire and brimstone emails about store prices mean one thing = the guy wants the card cheap and wishes you didn't know how valuable it is.

    Exactly.

Perhaps he was the underbidder on the Mastro auction

it would have been more ironic had he sent the e-mail all in CAPITALS....image

I would email him this pic and say something like "quit your crying pal!"

Of course, this is just my opinion and not meant to offend people that have babies image

John, I thought of you last week when I saw Oceans 13 at the movies!

When I saw those Milk Duds laying in the candy counter, I thought of Wondo!

Did he eat all those Milk Duds and then send the boxes into PSA for grading? image

So, I had to do it! I bought (and ate!) my first box of Milk Duds in over 30 years! Yep! They still taste great!

Geeez, to think I paid $3.25 for the box of Milk Duds at Muvico. You have a 1971 PSA 7 Fergie Jenkins complete Milk Duds box for sale on ebay with a current bid of $ 3.50.

    Yikes! Inflation! image

John, I have got the same type of messages from mainly coin auctions I've had in the past. I agree its only someone that wants it cheaper. I've always answered them back, that if they could find the same coin , graded , at the price they were asking me to sell to them, that I would buy from them as many as they could possible sell to me .

Matt the only people that you will ever offend by your picture , are the 30-60 year old babies, that feel its ok to act this way. After all , don't you know , every one was a baby at some point in their existance, just some still are.

John , let me know when the next Reading / Philly show is, so we can finally meet. Also I can have a temper tantrum and beat you down on a price , so you will sell me a great card cheap, so I can then sell it for the same price you wanted to start with.

Sounds like someone from Net54. Almost all of them bash PSA and some of them bash graded cards, yet they own many PSA graded cards. Hypocrisy at its finest. LOL

Just curious, but what makes you think that someone would actually buy the card for twice what it was just available for from Mastro two months ago? I would guess most collectors looking for a card like that are certainly aware of Mastro auctions.

Not sure what your purpose is.

Don't forget, you said everyone was entitled to his opinion.

An ebay store is a "parking lot" for material!

U can list an item in your ebay store for next to nothing! I cannot speak for John (Wondo) but I'm 99% certain, if someone really wanted this great Gehrig item, Wondo would "strike a super deal"!

Most sellers on ebay "park items" in their ebay stores, and the prices are usually much higher than other selling venues. Offers and inquiries will come in!

I've done business with John/Wondo (i.e., items, in fact, he won at auction), and I was extremely satisfied with our multiple transactions. Great terms, willing to sell at good prices, nice service, honest, reliable, and more! (...and he babysat the kids! Just kidding! image )

In other words, when a seller lists an item in his ebay store (even at double!), you can be quite sure there is plenty of room, as many items listed in ebay stores are just "parked there", for future sales, and a great way for others to see that an item is available.

Look, John stated he paid half his listed price at auction, so he is letting everone know there is plenty of room!

    Bob,
Thanks for the kind words - gotta get me some Milk Duds!

I do park a lot of stuff in my store, and yes, they're always for sale. Remember that many people loathe the large auction houses and are much more comfortable with retail.
