I woke-up to an e-mail from eBay, saying that my account might have been compromised:
<< <i>Dear mintertechsltd,
It appears the password for your eBay account may have recently become compromised. As a result of this, we have reset your password and secret question.
To regain control of your account, please complete the following:
1. Change the password on your personal EMAIL account to verify that it is secure and cannot be accessed by anyone other than you.
2. Change the password on your eBay account. To do so, click the "Forgot your password" link on the eBay sign-in page and change your password using the instructions provided.
3. Follow the steps below to secure your account:
> Click on the "Security & Resolution Center" link found at the bottom of most eBay pages.
> Click on the "eBay Account Protection" link in the "Online Security Resources" box. This will take you to the help page titled "Securing Your Account and Reporting Account Theft."
> Follow the instructions provided under "Securing Your Account".
As you take these steps, please be aware that you may need to repeat the instructions provided above or use the "Back" button on your Web browser to return to the "Securing Your Account" page.
We have provided some additional information below to explain how this may have occurred. >>
Being careful not to click on any links, I went to eBay and tried logging-in. I was locked-out, so it appears that the e-mail wasn't a spoof. I quickly reset my password and changed all of the log-in passwords for my e-mail account, eBay and PayPal.
The only time I ever disclosed my eBay user information was when I signed-up for eSnipe (www.eSnipe.com) a few days ago. This has me wondering if something similar happened to anyone else using this tool.
Your thoughts?

Question: Have you logged in to eBay from a Library computer and forgotten to log-off ?¿

As an IT business analyst I would never make a mistake like that! Thinking about it, eBay could've suspended the log-in information if someone tried to either guess, or brute-force my password a number of times, unsucessfully. I'm over it now, but it wasn't a pleasant e-mail to wake-up to.

As other accounts I've uesd on Saturday that are not registered with eSnipe have not benn effected, I assume that it was not caused by any PC or network security fault.
I've been in touch with eSnipe support, who informed me that they are checking into this matter.

It appears that certain eSnipe activity sets-off eBay's "suspicious behaviour" filter. Let us know what you find out from eSnipe support.
