Asked me that 10 years ago and I would have laughed my arse off.

  • I guess that's true, but Horry just happened to be in the right spot when star players carried him with them.

Yep, just 4 more and he will be tied with Bill Russell and we can argue who was the best of all time - Russell or Horry! (as we said back in the day - NOT!)

Being on a championship team does not in and of itself make you a great player.

Great teams need great role players, and seek them out

    Bowman Baseball -1948-1955
    Fleer Baseball-1923, 1959-2007

and he just happened to hit a bunch of big shots along the way - they don't call the man "Big Shot Rob" for nothing.

To Bobby's credit, he did contribute and wasn't just a bench warmer.

If you needed a huge bucket at the end of a game, Horry wouldn't think twice about pulling the trigger. Ice water runs through that man's viens.

HORRY----- It will be interesting to see if he plays another year. Coach Pop rested him throughout the regular season, and he did come through one more time--- especially on defense------- Tonyimage

  • Don't get me wrong, I think he is a fine role player but he has probably never been one of the top four players on any team he has played for. I think most of the teams he played for would have still won titles without him, he has made some key baskets, but if he isn't there, other players would step in and have the ability to make the same shots.
  • Horry was definitely a huge factor in both of the Rocket's titles, esp the second one where they basically ran a 7-man rotation after Vernon Maxwell had his meltdown.

    Nostalgia machine on.

Olajuwon, Drexler, Horry, Cassell, Kenny Smith and Elie. Those 6 guys in the spring of 1995 were simply unbeatable. The way they were playing for those 2 months, they would have beaten ANY team you wanted to throw in front of them. Shaq and the Magic simply didn't have a prayer.

    Nostalgia machine off.

It wasn't just his shots but D as well. Had Rudy not moved him to PF in game 3 against PHX in '95, we probably wouldn't have won the series.

For the 1st and only time, Chuck was held to 0-for from the field in the playoffs.

He has been a reserve, but with 7 rings, does he sniff the HOF? I doubt it.

Probably not, but he sure can hit those big shots when they count. Also, checking Nash in the Phoenix series causing Amare Stoudemier to leave the bench was a huge contribution this year.
