1974 Topps Stamps Nolan Ryan PSA 10

I just recently sent in a 1974 Topps Stamps Nolan Ryan that came back a PSA 10. It is the only one in existence, with only 4 9's. I haven't received it yet, but it has been mailed from PSA and should be here today or tomorrow. I went ahead and put it on eBay without the scan just to see if it would get any attention. I plan on posting the scan once I receive it. So far, I have had only 2 bids (I guess because there is no pic), but I have a ton of people watching it - I guess they're waiting on me to post the pic. I have had some emails and off-line offers, but want to make sure that I am not selling myself short. Does anybody have any idea of something like this would be worth? There is no SMR on it, but I am sure it is worth quiet a bit! Please help!

As for the value, doesn't seem like there's too much demand for this set, but a PSA 10 1/1 Ryan will always have a buyer. if I had to take a guess on what it would end at, I'd say around $250 or so. It's just a guess though, so take it with a grain of salt.

<< <i> think you made a mistake by putting it up without a scan. Makes you seem kind of shady, like you're selling something that you don't have (which technically, you are). Most people will not bid on anything without a scan. >>
<< <i>I WILL END THIS AUCTION EARLY FOR THE RIGHT OFFER - SERIOUS OFFERS ONLY. >>
Nothing personal but I hope eBay pulls your auction and reprimands you.

I bet it could bring over 5k with the right marketing and I bet if you let the auction end without a pic you will be lucky to get 1k.

I'll take that bet. No way it brings over 5k. I would be highly, highly surprised if it even approached half that.
My guess would be $350-$550.
Loves me some shiny!
Pull the auction! Then email each of the Ryan master set builders that you will be listing this item as soon as it is received from PSA.
Then re-list it correctly, with scans!
good luck!

<< <i>I have already received off line offers of $1500.00 and $1850.00 so you are right - it could bring close to $5K! >>
If that's the case, sell it off eBay, take a personal check from the highest offer, and then ship it post haste.
Don't worry about a signature confirmation or anything like that; they are all trust worthy.
Good luck

I agree I would contact all the top Ryan master set collectors.
So I would say you are much more likely to get $3500-$4500 for the card especially if the offers to end early are from different folks. The folks competing for top end cards really don't care about the money.
You did make a mistake not including a scan but that can be easily rectified.

<< <i>Looks like it sold for 1500, probably some money left on the table but also probably a nice profit

Wow. Great price! FWIW I thought carew's $350 estimate was going to be pretty close.
<< <i>IMO He left quite a bit of money on the table. Still a lot of money but he had an item that was guaranteed to invoke a bidding war. It would have been interesting to see how high the bidding got. >>
I don't think it would have gone much higher than $1500. Obviously I could be wrong-- I was wrong on my first estimate, so I could be wrong on this one as well-- but cards that aren't part of the basic set usually don't hit the gong level.
In any event, $1500 is a hell of a lot of money for a 1974 stamp. I'm sure the seller is pleased.
My guess is he pulled the old "I've had offers of xx and xx" and got someone on these boards to bite. Nothin like pullin off the Old Okee-doke.
