Eli Manning says "no regrets".

With the Giants' running game a question mark after the retirement of Tiki Barber, more of the offensive load could fall on Eli Manning as he enters his fourth NFL season. Manning is well aware that this has been characterized as a make-or-break season, both for him, and for Giants Coach Tom Coughlin. But he said he has no regrets about his decision three years ago to shun the Chargers and engineer a trade to the Giants.

They may have to bring back The Bachelor. Not a big Eli fan.

Its been apparent that Eli is more like his dad than Peyton. Maybe Tom can call Bubby Brister and still salvage 07

    What's he supposed to say?

"Man I blew it. I really wish I was in San Diego right now and not New York. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go into the locker room and probably get beaten by the teammates I just dissed. Probably with bars of soap in socks, a la Full Metal Jacket."

Good Point, to be honest I dont think Eli would have faired any better no matter where he went. He is NOT that good, overhyped because of his last name. Just MO

Nothing against Giants fan but Eli deserves nothing but pain, misery, and an early retirement from an unsuccessful career.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

  • Since nobody else is standing up for Eli, I guess I’ll have to. Now, I'll admit he hasn’t lived up to his expectations yet and he’ll probably never be as good as his brother. But let’s remember, he has led the Giants to the playoffs the past two years, and they weren’t a very good team before he came. Also, the Giants receivers have dropped a lot of passes. You can’t blame the QB for those. So far, he’s been durable, seems to have a good attitude, and has a good arm. He just needs to make those good throws more consistently. I’m not sure why he didn’t want to go to San Diego, but I still think he could be a great QB in the years to come. Hey, if he improves his play, he could even be a future HOF. And that’s not bad, even for a #1 overall pick. I doubt that the Giants regret trading for him. Just give him some time.

    Peyton LED the Colts
    Brady LED the Pats
    Urlacher LED the Bears

Eli did not LEAD the Giants. I'm not saying he's a total failure, but IMHO Eli did just enough to keep the Giants in contention. In no way was he the guy who led the troops into battle.

Did someone just mix in Urlacher with a few super bowl ring weaers?

I was using recent examples of people who led their teams to the playoffs.

Not examples from ancient history fluke Superbowls that no one remembers. image

And yes, I am aware that if 02 is ancient history, Superbowl IV would pre-date the dinosaurs.

He didn't want to go to San Diego because they had a reputation of being a dysfuntional franchise and the owner a reputation of being
difficult to deal with. I think his family (especially Dad) had a huge influence over his going to the Giants instead.

Thanks for reminding me why he didn't want to go to San Diego. With the Chargers going a very impressive 14-2 last year, you do have to feel like he would've been better off there. But I like it that he's on an NFC team, as it leaves open the possibility of a Manning-Manning Super Bowl sometime in the future.
And Rivers certainly has worked out for the Chargers so far. They had two good ones when they had Rivers and Brees.
